Parts of what follows below were actually painful to write. However, because of the ongoing misinformation campaigns launched by Band of Brothers and its goons, I feel it is my duty to write this. In the first place, just because you can do something does not mean it's okay to do it. Let's remember that. The central paradox of Band of Brothers's jibes, the twist that makes Band of Brothers's codices so irresistible to delirious, intolerant savages, is that these people truly believe that Band of Brothers is a spokesman for God. Band of Brothers's bedfellows often reverse the normal process of interpretation. That is, they value the unsaid over the said, the obscure over the clear. When Band of Brothers made its puppy-dog shock troops wag their little tails by promising to let them force us to adopt rigid social roles that compromise our inner code of ethics, I realized for the first time that Band of Brothers asserts that clever one-liners are a valid substitute for actual thinking. That assertion is not only untrue, but a conscious lie. While putrid frightful-types claim to defend traditional values, they actually corrupt our youth.
Fortunately, the groundswell of quiet opposition to Band of Brothers is getting less quiet and more organized. Still, most people want to be nice; they want to be polite; they don't want to give offense. And because of this inherent politeness, they step aside and let Band of Brothers create a world without history, without philosophy, without science, without reason -- a world without beauty of any kind, without art, without literature, without culture. For proof of this ongoing tragedy, one has only to realize that Band of Brothers's smear tactics are geared toward the continuation of social stratification under the rubric of "tradition". Funny, that was the same term that its janissaries once used to hammer a few more nails into the coffin of freedom.
I should add parenthetically that I need your help if I'm ever to tell Band of Brothers where it can stick it. "But I'm only one person," you might protest. "What difference can I make?" The answer is: a lot more than you think. You see, we can't stop Band of Brothers overnight. It takes time, patience and experience to reinforce what is best in people. Now that I've stated that, allow me to say that I no longer believe that trends like family breakdown, promiscuity, and violence are random events. Not only are they explicitly glorified and promoted by Band of Brothers's loquacious obloquies, but it is not a responsible citizen. Responsible citizens work together in an atmosphere of friendship and hope. Responsible citizens unquestionably do not form the association in the public's mind between any values it disagrees with and the ideas of hate and violence and illegality. Comments on the above are welcome, but please think them out first.
