Answer the question!
I'd be just as satisfied with only two monitors but that sort of idea. Viewing area for flight on one and the market, cargo, chat and stuff on the other monitor.
Since local, scanner and other windows are a MUST in lowsec and 0.0, Eve may as well not have graphics because we can't see much of them anyway. -- Sig design in training: Remaining time 30 years 20 days, 4 hours, 10 mins, 15 seconds. |

Edited by: Vittorian on 24/07/2008 16:36:10 pls, put this in.. eve's ui is not really the summum of ui design. You get cluttered with so many different windows which all contain relevant info. Pls the ability to move those widgets to a second monitor would help so much.. Also other ideas in this thread like having 2 3d views (one close, one long range battle view) are very nice, but have a lower priority imo.

Edited by: Vittorian on 26/07/2008 00:20:49 but, but..eve should be playable on 1 monitor!! Well tuff luck guys, you screwed up with the current ui. Harsh words, I know, but sadly the truth. Imo ui should have major focus atm, cuz simply it's the weakest link. For new peeps trying out eve seeing the un-robust, un-clear and quite frankly un-professional ui, is a major turn off.
This is a thread about dual monitors. I still would love to see proposed features for multiple screens :)

Congrats on having no clue what you're talking about. All full-screen applications do this. This is not just Eve. Complaining about this is like complaining about Eve closing when your power goes out. Neither are Eve's fault.
Run in windowed mode and set EveMon up to reposition your window so it takes up exactly the whole screen. Problem solved.

What's the next step with this? Should we file a petition or raise for the council to suggest or something?

Not fully, better to go look for a program called eve-launcher. At least that one supports to put a client on each screen. Evemon puts ALL clients on ONE screen.

EVE Launcher FTW, although its a bit buggy sometimes on Vista (update mr EVE Launcher coder??)
It really is a very very good tool, i run 2-4 accounts at once and it makes this very easy.

I just use Linux client and I told KDE to put EVE on Desktop #3, on the primary monitor. I would, however, want a client that could open a map on the secondary monitor and keep it open. :)

I am joining the teh signing of this. I want Dual monitor support badly, any way to help relieve some of teh clutter of trying to browse the market and talk to people while mining or mission running or whatever. This is the one area and am disappointed with ccp for lagging behind. I dont want a stretch, I want to be able to set up at least two monitors on separate resolutions and be able to drag things between the two, or use the map on one and still be able to fly with teh other. Thank you.

I can't believe we're getting no response from the devs, in a game like this with so many windows, stats and information to keep track of it would be an obvious feature to add dual monitor support!

I just had a dual monitor running and tho as it is now it comes in handy for 2 accounts,it should support it for both players that run multiple accs or just 1.As a guy previously mentioned EVE has by far the most windows and panels you need to manage and organize all in one screen and as we all know many times it turns out very annoying. |

I'm tired of playing this game "in the fog". When I undock I get a good look at my ship 'cause I know I'll be covering her up with a window.
1) minimum of dual screen support for eve ingame window relocation please.
2) It would be nice to be able to make window buttons larger for easier clicking when action is hot, but then with windows on a 2nd monitor this wouldnt be needed. I dislike having to "target" those teensee weensee buttons to minimize or close a window just so I can "target" those little lines to engage my drones. Give us some macro support. (shift-F1 = send in the drones)(shift-F2 swap all laser crystals at once) etc.
3) I'll settle for the dual monitor support.
Ive come to the point where hearing that there will be more variety in missions will be a great thing, however the reason I cancelled my account for 8 months last year was because I was sick of the screen clutter. Had I been able to utilize my 2nd monitor for local, maps, etc., I would have surely stayed to try out pvp and o.o systems.
I havent had to put this much imagination into a game since Zork...well, maybe something more recent than 30 years ago..

At this I'd settle for being able to run EVE in full screen mode and be able to use my other monitors for EVEMon/EFT/Firefox/iTunes/etc. without having EVE minimize and then freak out and re-minimize every time I click on something after restoring focus to it though...

It would be great to have all the utility windows on a different desktop. Does anybody know if there is a topic in the assembly hall about this?

I would have to agree to this. It would be fantastic to be able to put most of the interface functions on the second monitor display. It would then allow us to appreciate the beauty of the graphics without the overview, fleet, watch list and chat cluttering up the screen.
