so I've been playing for about 2 weeks now... hooked up with a little corp... thought I'd help and try to get some new memebers.... "I'd join your corp but you're amarr" ouch funny as hell but ouch, "go play with you lasers loser" painful "still flying the shrimp" I can't help it my frig looks like a shrimp! As a new player that's not read alot of the lore ...why all the hate?

You can be almost certain that whatever race you pick eventually you'll meet someone who doesn't think highly of that race and believes that you want to hear all about their opinion on the matter.

One problem is that some CEOs don't train "Ethnic Relations" so their corp is limited to only one race. Look it up and see.
There's nothing wrong with being Amarr. You can train to fly any ship that you want. Lasers are a bit of a problem because they give less damage per unit of capacitor than any other weapon. Many Amarr pilots in my corp use Railguns. Search for the 'Bleeder' setup for Punishers and Vengeance. It uses Autocannons to do damage, and can destroy poorly set up battlecruisers. Amarr get a lot of cap, and armour tanking is in some ways superior to shield tanking, so you must think of ways to use it to your best advantage. All races have their ups and downs.
Also, would you really want to hang around a bunch of idiots that talk like that anyways?

the main reason I started this thread is to make sure that that amarr arnt the "gnomes" of eve... I'm starting to see thats not the case... It's not pitty hate I'm getting ingame ...it's all out hate and that I'm fine with

Ok so you are one of the few that washes your slaves.. In general theyprduce a stench you can smell all the way to verge vendor. :P
Their ships.. duct tape.. paper cement.. packing twine and bubble gum. :P

When I first started playing I chose gallente because that was how I could get into that cool looking ship I saw in the banner ad on mmorpg.com....
After spending some time working on that characters mining skills, then making a second gallente character for hauling, I decided to make a 3rd account to provide protection from rats and to eventually PvP with.
For the 3rd, I had no idea what race I wanted to be, so I made a character and hung out in the minmatar, caldari, and amarr newb corps for a while with each. After about a week I settled on amarr because the people in the newb chat were friendlier and more helpful, and because amarr space was alot less populated.
Only after playing amarr for a while did I notice that alot of players pretend to hate amarr, I have asked some about this and they say it is because we are opressive religious fanatic slavers. I guess I can see why that would be a negative thing, but in general, most of the amarr hating that I have come across has just been good natured ribbing.
Another reason alot of people dont like amarr is because we have some decided shortcomings concerning our ships and weapons. Very few of our ships have good bonuses to damage/rof for our weapons, our guns are restricted to EM/thermal damage, and we have serious capacitor issues when it comes time to shoot and tank. Now some people (like me) just live with it and keep working on their skills in order to excel with the ships, while others say things like "amarr should just be removed from the game" or whine incessantly on the forums about how bad our ships are and how much they need to be boosted. In the end, you will find that there are more than a few players out there who PvP in amarr ships and who have lots of fun doing so. Really there is nothing wrong with amarr, unless you are a roleplayer and get into the whole story, personally, I like the ships because (for the most part) they are symetrical and look good ;), oh and lasers are 2k00l4sk00l

Amarr have some good ships for sure (Crusader/Malediction, Curse, Armageddon, and more). Just realize that some people are stuck in the "Caldari = PVE, Minmatar and Gallente = PVP" line of thought and see Amarr as irrelevant.

So many people says it here, it's like no one verified this...
Gallente works fine in PVE and using a vexor in lvl 3 missions is lots of fun (soon trying myrmidon in lvl 4 missions, I've got to give it a try).
Seems like minmatar works fine in PVE too, and amarr, erm, there are so few that I only know one well, but he does any mission with his Apocalypse...
Stay Amarr Morderd, the ships looks cool, the armor tanking is great, the lasers doing EM/thermal is not bad at all, as a gallente, I keep using thermal drones for most things I do! If the EM drones had not a bad damage multiplier, I would be using them too (EM lasers do not have this kind of issues, they do big EM damage).
Amarr ships are good for PvP, with their strong armor and sturdy capacitors, they are as able as any race to wreck (or melt) their ennemies. And EM and thermal damage is not bad for PvP as we tend to see so few Amarr around here that many don't protect correctly from EM damage nor do they tank more on thermal than other damage types.

And remember, you don't have to fit lasers to Amarr ships. Yes, you may loose some class bonus's but many a PvP pirate hunting in Blood Raider space has had some sudden Kin and Exp loving which they haven't tanked against.
Try playing with fitting projectile turrets, I find they go quite nice with Amarr ships

For whatever reason, this is the funniest thing I have read in quite a while. Morderd gets through saying something nice and it is followed up with an Amarr hating comment, lol. Too funny.
But seriously, I do agree that this game has one of the best communities I have seen. I only wish I would have discovered this game sooner, I wasted so much time with Wow

Yes, I must admit, some do take none laser turrets better then others. Look to use an Amarr ship which puts it's bonus on armour tanking rather then weapons effect. It was a Prophecy I fitted projectiles too, all it's bonus are given over to armour tanking.
But for any Amarr planning to go low sec ratting against eitehr Sansha and Bloods I've found this a useful little combo.
