i wonder if the dev team spent so much time developing on graphics, did consider that having a good collision detection system would
enhance the feel of the game?

there are already some nice space skyboxes, and kool vertex shader implementations in the unique portrait generator...why not have some real collision detection physics(eg in doom3)...

jus my 2 cents worth...

Indeed, having rail bolts magically going through asteroids doesnt make much sense.

You want to plough into a planet traveling at 3au/s? mind you it would be fun to do it to a station or gate at least once :)

A more realistic system would be good for roids and indi's, hate getting stuck between two roids that are a few km apart :/

yep I want to plough into anything, real physics would improve the game play IMO.

The issue is data transfer. Add too much collision detection, and either you get a lot of data transfer from you to the server, or you end up with so much server-side prediction that your ship gets repositioned more than you want.

IMO Accurate ship placement > Accurate collision detection. Neutral

not to mention, that ships get stuck at station docking/launching in populated areas. should i go left? no, lets go right! no, let's go up, no let's go left, let's go down, let's just stop the ship at look around for while...

if CD is already at such low level, why not just disable it?

perhaps a redesign of the engine arhitecture is in order...
