I have been thinking about skill training lately and have been wondering, if my subscription lapses (for one reason or anoter) I know I can't log on, but what I wonder, is do my skills continue to be trained, or is my account effectively put on ice until I reactvate te subscription?
I am not in a mood for testing this myself, but if anyone knows the answer then you will have cured my curiosity and saved the cat I was planning to use to help me prove the old saying correct. (although in a somewhat psychotic manner...)

Edited by: Estel Arador on 15/02/2007 20:08:34 When an account expires skill training continues until the skill is finished. If you won't be using an account for a while, setting a long skill just before your account expires is pretty much standard practice =AFK=

Thanks for that. It was something I was considering doing. I have decided that I should take a break and try out this new thing people are talking about. I believe it is called "a real life." I will admit, it doesn't sound that great, you can't choose where you start, what class you are, or even your gender, but with 6 billion people at it, it can't be all bad I guess...

Just because alot of people do it doesn't mean it's good. Just look at WoW

Yes, I do see the error of my ways, my argument was flawed and was an example of a "majority of belief" style of argument, which cannot be used reliably.
Well, WoW is actually a good game for poeple who have a slightly different attitude towards games. If you like to be a 14 year old who has had all the vowels removed from his keyboard (except o) have no patience or are not socially functional and love being an prat towards everyone then it is THE game for you!
There was a review for Real Life on gamespot or something a while back, someone posted it on the forum during an extended downtime back in September I believe.

Be fair. At current growth rate, in 2-3 years WoW will have a population higher than that of Texas.
And it already has a significantly more intelligent one.

Phe Real Life... its rubbish, it takes ages to get enough money to by a decent vehicle, and the isurance payouts on everything is like T2 ships.....

Please check your sources, my alt "lapses" all the time and never finishes a skill while suspended. This is true even when the skill is scheduled to finish on the day of the suspension. As far as I can tell, the character neither gains nor loses skillpoints once suspended. --- Your RIGHTS are a PRIVILEGE, don't abuse them.

My sources:
- personal experience: I've had to renew my subscription three times so far - last time in january. All three times I had my account inactive for a few days to a few weeks, and every time my skill training continued. - Revelations patch notes specifically mention that "On the Serenity server, skills no longer train when the owning account is deactivated. Tranquility is not affected by this change." - there are post by devs (one by Wrangler I remember, probably other devs too) which confirm that skill training continues when an account goes inactive. At the moment I'm too lazy to search for them though, sorry. If the previous points haven't convinced you, I doubt this one will either. =AFK=

It's also been my experience that a lapsed account will continue to finish off whatever skill it was learning when the sub ran out. It can be quite handy.

I know some peole that only pay every other month for a character - they just leave longer skills training while away - no loss in Skill points there. -- BIG Lottery, BIG Deal | RaTTuS @ Skills Showroom

Alright, thanks a million. It wasn't a shot at ye integrity or calling you a liar. I just remember Mining Barges 5 not completing as I had hoped, and I thought this was the issue as the account did get suspended during the training time. --- Your RIGHTS are a PRIVILEGE, don't abuse them.

I'm sorry, but anyone who's played wow knows how mindless the people playing truly are. Just go visit the barrens and you'll see. Be prepared to hear stupid and senseless Chuck Norris jokes 24/7.
