Our Ishtar BPO was accidentally duped once. We immediately sent in a petition to have the dupe removed.

It's unfortunate the honestly like this isn't more rewarded or common in Eve.

Back when Giant Secure containers were first introduced...
They cost 57k, but recycled for 285k mins (back then)...now it would be closer to 1/2mil..

Everyone needs to make a mental note about this person. Mort is the CEO of Carbide Industries, who until 3 days ago, was my only Corp ever.. This entire corp is full of people like her. They are LOADS of fun to play with and the most honest good group of players I've ever had the honor of spending my time in game with.. I wish more people were like her and more corps were like Carbide.

Because you risk a ban, if you don't do it ? I understand that someone can be tempted not to report it, but if it's ligit to use such a BPO or not is not really up to interpretation.
If you take an unfair advantage of a bug and know what you are doing, it's usually classified as an exploit in like any mmorpg I've ever played and can get you into big trouble. ( And I really hope that it's also this way in EVE, otherwise it would be an invitation to look for bugs and abuse them for personal profit, instead of reporting them. )

That BPO was only reported through fear of banning, no honesty or morals factored in at all, I'd wager.

Back when CCP's login server got hacked, and those people stole the pw's to some accounts, I logged in one evening to find my main had 500 million ISK more than he should and a character that I didn't make.
Like a stooge, I petitioned it, and CCP took back all the ISK not so much as a thank you for being honest, really ****ed me off.

Edited by: Entity on 15/02/2007 23:03:20 There used to be a funny one when, if you were fast enough, would let you fit multiple modules into the same slot.
Edit: that wasn't my biggest though -_-

To be honest if you had sold that BPO instead of reported it you would've done more good for the EVE community then reporting it. More HAC BPOs need introduction into EVE.

An module dup bug, but that was just on the test server. Other than that, I reported a bug that caused you to be able to avoid taxes on buy orders, but that wasn't that big a deal. ---

Two come to mind..
One (fairly recently) that let you reliably load any weapon with an unlimited amount of ammo, so you never had to reload. It also let you in essence move a massive quantity of ammo from one place to another with a single fast frigate by loading weapons (oversized bs ones too, anything fitted and offline) with ammo, moving the ship, then repackaging to get the ammo back. It could have even been used to move immense quantities of minerals around with a frigate by building the ammo, moving, repackaging, and melting... very useful exploit if one were inclined to abuse it.
Another (very soon after retail launch) that let you move cargo from your cargohold into the hold of a ship somewhere else in the system you were in. It didn't matter if someone else was piloting the other ship, or if they had left system and come back, as long as they were currently in your system (you had to board the ship in question to set it up, then eject) Could be used to mine into an industrial elsewhere in system instead of a jetcan, for instance.
Both were corrected. -- Nyrram |
