Was having a non-sober chat with a corp-mate this evening, and am told that some of these pics would be of interest to folks interested in the history of Eve. Some of pictures of Eve from a CCP paperback brochure prior to the Alpha. Some are Alpha 6 to Beta 5 pics. Some are early game pics. Some are just random. Either way, I hope you folks enjoy. I hadn't looked through this crap in a long time and was doing some real laughing while scrolling through.
Enjoy
I predate you.

Fantastic compilation! That original typhoon model is still as awesome as I remember it.
I hope this garners response from someone who was working with CCP during this time period. I would actually like see what they have to say about the evolution of the game.
Very cool. |

Thank you. I don't recall having a typhoon in there but I could be wrong. If you're referring to the shot in "general old", that was a Min titan, at the time.

The text in the picture I think labeled it as " liberty" and looked very similar to the original typhoon model.
I will look again and edit accordingly.
Yep, in the teaser pics. Battleship "liberty" it's definitely not a tempest, and looks very similar to the typhoon model that helped make Eve a lasting impression for me. |

Nope, you're right, that is an old Phoon. CCP used to put pictures of the game up every once in a while, and caption them with some story.

Looks almost like a different game. Checking those requirements back in 2001, I barely cover them with my old PC. The game must have been top notch back in the days. And those solar systems - never heard of them, like I said, totally different game. |

Thanks! Fascinating to see how much survived the whole way until now, what was modified and what was dropped. I look at some of my 09 screenies and wonder how i played, why i thought it was so pretty. The answer is, of course, that changes since have spoiled me rotten.

The conversation with the pilot Tankuk had me in bits, did he ever rententer Venal to fight Evolution again and did you keep to your word and not kill him a system further along?

I think I still have masses of containers of all the thousands of corpses we collected from all the wars we fought. I kept them all down in Gehi and tormented Zap and Tibor much with their corpses in a trade window.
Eve was a lot of fun back then. I just wish I'd have kept the screenshot I had of me chasing after your Scorpion you ejected from in Cloudring and the mwd stayed on. That still makes me laugh, and along with Sutty podding himself with his own torpedoes.

I just found the teamspeak recording of that hilarity. Among those and others, I found some more things in video and uploaded them to YouTube:
The second Eve Online trailer, from late 2000
An e3 glimpse into Eve from 2002.
An IGN office tour of CCP in early 2003.
The old "I promise I'll discover your trade and passenger routes..." trailer from early 2003
I'll edit the original post to include these.
I predate you.

Hell, this is a blast from the past. I even found some old m0o vids with a few of our battles on it and one of us and rkk in Venal. Faramir on the fc. Good fun. The game looks so different compared to now. It was clunky. |
