So it seems there is a popular belief that one single thrasher can't suicide a hulk in hi-sec. However, because of crucible expansion destroyers are greatly enhanced damage boats.. Now i feel that those who suicide and those who hope not to be suicideded need to be aware of just how much one little halpless thrasher is capable of doing.
So how many thrashers does it take to kill a hulk anyway? You might have asked yourself.... lets get to the point shall we
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNRuv2ktrCQ
watch the video, study the kill mail and asks yourself: "What do I have to do to not get my carebear self exploaded?" as opposed to "How many cargo expansnors should i fit to get the best results?"
1 time out of 100: its not safe to mine afk, its not safe to mine all innocents like, its just not safe period, if you think you can make isks (while afk) and not risk losing crap you are wrong, and if you were right then why play the game?
don't think u are safe just because its not "hulkageddon" because its always "hulkageddon"
so is this legitimate? are destroyers overpowered in any way? is concord lazy? should hulks have better tanks? are you here to troll the forums? looking forward to your thoughts mmmmkay |

Had the pilot made a few prudent fitting choices, that could have been avoided. you are most correct.. but lets say its a mackinaw, how much then would those fitting changes save the ship? is it not too easy for a 10m isk destroyer fit to kill a 100m isk exhumer? simply put, it seems that any challenge that might have somehow existed to kill exhumers is being obliterated in spite of the cryouts of the occasional rage quitter. Should CCP just remove high-sec ore to save miners from themselves? Should things stay completely the same? Any thoughts are welcome. |

Hulks are over-powered.
The drone bays should be removed, and resistances lowered.
They warp too fast, align too fast and the locking time is insane.
The sig radius is far too small and why they even have low slots is a mystery.
And the fire stuff coming out the sides is utter madness, how does fire coming out the sides not make the ship flail about more.

Not really.
Compared to an Orca which can get up to about 210k ehp, why is an industrial for the same 'job' at only 15-20k max? Wouldn't have worked in a 1.0 though would it? They were solo in a 0.5 knowing full well concord are much slower. |

I don't get it.
I've done the mining thing. Too boring for my tastes.
I've done the missioning thing. It was also very boring.
I knew doing both of those that people would probably want to come mess with me just because I was "Minding My Own Business."
People in all walks of life enjoy screwing with the loners that just want to mind their own business. I've never really figured out why, but I'm sure it has something to do with loners making easy targets.
So, why all the whining about suicide gankers? Have these people never attended a school or walked down an unfamiliar street? Never went to the movies or a restaurant alone? You get treated differently when you're a loner. People like to kick stray dogs, no matter what walk of life. Why would EVE be any different? I know sometimes it's difficult to realize just how much you spend on incidental things each month or year, but seriously, EVE is very cheap entertainment compared to most things... If you are a smoker, smoke one less pack a week and pay for EVE, with money left over to pick up a cheap bundle of flowers for the EVE widow upstairs. |

As far as I'm concerned all is working fine. Fitting for max cargo/yield = greater reward and higher risk, mining with a hulk fitted for buffer = less reward and less risk.
Same with mining in 0.5 instead of 1.0

remember your on an online forum... dont be getting all philosphical on the intrawebs post because its gonna come out as jibberish to practically everyone that reads it. by the way kicking stray dogs is animal cruelty, i hope your not insinuating that the average eve ganker goes around kicking dogs.. and i also would prefer to gank chribba mining but he mines in titans so.. yeh |

I didn't get it. No, I don't get it at all. What's the underlying reason to destruction of peaceful vessels? Are they your enemies? I doubt. You gonna fight for resources? No, it would be too hilarious to see you mining after all... You have proved that you can destroy it? Good, but why destroy others?
Did this kill made your day? I think it is pathetic. You know what kills made my days? When I killed destroyers and cruisers with a mere badger. And not just baiting them, but actually killing them. That was fun indeed.
But, well, no people were born equal, everyone has it's own level. If killing these things is fun for you, go ahead... weakling |

As for why: because they want to evoke some display of emotion from the owner of said Hulk(s), and as we can all see here, it's a lot easier to evoke a negative reaction than a positive one. |

Hulks are just fine. No tank or nerf needed. You can fit the Hulk for maximum EHP (average tanked Hulk has 20k EHP) and lose mining yield in the process (thus less mineral flow) or you can fit it for maximum yield that results in diminished defenses. I have even fitted the Hulk to be battle worthy, but it was never meant to be a combat-capable ship in the first place. It's an exhumer for a reason.
Now, the Orca is a different story. Being that it's a command ship, it can fulfill many roles including that related to combat. It is a command ship after all (regardless of the "industrial" label it has) capable of utilizing 3 active gang-assist modules at once. The average EHP of a well-tanked Orca is no less than 215k EHP. And with a very large capacitor capacity, energy neutralizing it will do very little or nothing even if the Orca is active tanked with shield boosters. To make it more challenging, it also relies on fleet bonuses to buff up its own defenses even more. An armored warfare link and a siege warfare link - shield harmonizer will boost the defenses for not just the Orca but for any Hulk that is fleeted with the Orca. As a comparison, a freighter (which can't fit anything at all) has a slightly smaller tank of a well-fitted Orca and it usually takes 15-20 battleships to kill a freighter. That's saying something.
The only two downsides to the Orca: 1) its long list of skills that need to be trained just for the hull alone plus those for the proper modules and 2) its extremely slow targeting speed. Even with a sensor booster fitted with the scan res script, it will take about 10 seconds to lock a single target depending on the target's signature radius. |
