Well if this was the REAL world, if I missed a deadline because I could not schedule my crap to be completed when I told an owner the project will be finished on a certain date, I would be fired and loose money.
You don't miss deadlines and expect owners to pay you. It is very **** poor business practice and it costs you your reputation and money.
CCP should not be any different than any other company. We pay for a service and we expect promises to be kept. Break the promise of a deadline, you loose customers.
And that's the bottom line.

Oh, I'm sure they had a perfectly good patch ready to go in, but after all the whining they have to****gotize everything so you carebears don't quit when you find yourselves actually having to deal with combat.

lol this is game development...
weren't we promised Team Fortress 2 and Duke Nukem like 3 years ago?
How many games this year have hit their Christmas target? and of those how many could have used a few more months of testing and bug squashing...
Delays are the norm not the exception.
Just be glad that Castor wasn't an Expansion pack like it would have been for any of the other MMOGS...

True, and even if they do, people have to realise that "YES" bugs can be found at the last minute that would require the patch to not be made.
Also programming could slip and cause the deadline be overrun by a short time.
Thats probably why the majority of real life programming projects finish over budget and late.
CCP in all honesty have done a good job just to get this project released. A few extra days wait for this patch won't kill anyone.. In fact your more likely to die after the patch 
I don't see any reason in complaining that a patch is late, when we don't know the full facts for why its late... Even then its not like the game is compleatly unplayable without the patch, just that it will be much better after the patch :P

I really like purple hydras attitude.
But as for me...patience is something you think the game would teach people.
The way i see it i rather them fail the deadline and give a quality patch than them make it and it be all screwed up.
Jericho Faction....thats a good name...maybe i should use it for my car club...hmmm..

Patience is a virtue.....and should be tought by making everyone mine bistot in a newbie ship with a basic mining laser for a month
I'm really not that bothered by this...acustomed to these kinds of delays, but I like the reasons they give "responding to some requests made by players" kind of gives you a warm fuzzy feeling of hope for some player - dev communication... might start looking at Chaos more, if it ever stops being full

Well........It is kinda annoying when the devs said the patch would be out today. And it's not. I think that everyone has been waiting for this day with hopes and ambitions for the game mechanics to get better and CCP has let us down again, however the day is not over yet.
I for one dont think the patch will come today. We have seen it before where the devs have stated an official launch date and not come through. This doesnt suprise me but rather disappoints me. Oh well back to mining scordite.

Dood please, dont compare EVE to those games. First of all totally different genre and one of them hasnt even been released yet. Second of all we arent paying to wait for those games. I mean wtf was your point in that one?

I have Jedi Academy and am an Admin in my Clan that predates back to Jedi Knight 1. Jedi Knight 2 : Jedi Outcast took 4 patches to be playable where you could fairly compete. Then the fan boi's started moaning for something more. So what does Raven do ??? They take Jedi Knight 2, The Jedi Acedemy Mod idea ( a clan released it ) and better graphix and rereleased it as a Full Retail Product. After the first official patch... The game Completely is unballanced, the stand alone MP server app blows absolute chunks and is buggy as hell for some aspects of the game.
Thats is coming from a Maker ( Raven Soft )that has been developing Quake 3 Engine based games since Quake 3 was released. The tools are tried and true ( and also open source for may of them ) and the net code from iD is damn near perfect as games get. But Raven has blown it. Why .... complaining customers that think their money gets them stock in the company. Well guess what... tell that to the Music Industry that shut napster down. You buy a liscense not stock option... they will be done when its done. If you rush them... you will be sorry.

Halflife 2, was announced for the 30th september.. and its still not out and won't be till well into next year...
Its just a fact with software development that things will go wrong and schedules will be put back and deadlines missed.
So the patch might not be out today, will a few more days or a week really change things much?
