Edited by: Mi Lai on 19/02/2007 05:06:39 Sanguine Legion was founded in March 2006 by Fuqu, intended to become a Khanid only Blood Raider loyalist Corporation, which would focus on RP, PVP, mining and doing Blood Raider agent missions. It didnt exactly turn out this way. How come? Bear with me if you got some time to kill. ItÆs a personal report, so feel free to disagree, though having been CEO of this once magnificent corp, I have a reasonable idea on what happened.
Chaven - March 06 Formed by a handful of people that gotten to know about it via word of mouth, Sanguine Legion assembled in Chaven. Without any plan or order, our first members spread out from Chaven daily, terrorizing the local bears and macro-miners in whatever way possible. The area was alive with the buzz of T1 Frigs can-flagging, ore-stealing and otherwise harassing the locals for those first couple of days.
Soon after it was time to get down to business, and we set out on our first ever low-sec pirating experience ever, in the area around Mai. Even though dozens of Sanguine Frigates met a ghastly end, morale was sky-high: time and time again, we proved to ourselves we could take on anything, regardless of skillpoints. Any ægroup-wipeÆ was nothing more then a lesson learned, and having all help each other out made that we were back on our feet throwing more ships at the enemy, sometimes the first to die were back while the rest was still clawing away at the same ship that had killed them. Should we be unable to kill something (like a Carrier that we engaged), we had the dream of us becoming more experienced, skilled and better equipped to deal with it later.
Both our CEO at the time and myself made efforts to arrange access to those aforementioned Blood Raider agents (having fought a small BoB squad in one of the low sec expeditions, he mentioned I should EVEmail Molle about access to Delve, which I promptly did but strangely I havenÆt received a reply ever). We werenÆt that bothered though, as pirating felt much more exciting then talking to some NPC in a station somewhere.
High Sec soon proved to be untenable as a location, as even without any deliberate podding of customers, several of our members were soon experiencing æconcord issuesÆ while traveling.
The Amamake Training Grounds û April 06 When asking around some older people on what a decent place for pirating was at that time, the answers was always æAmamakeÆ, so the decision to head to that area was made easily.
The experience gained there was vital to our little corp. When we entered the area, hunting was often done by group-warping around the system like crazed weasels to find something, after a while, more and more of us learned pressing the æScanÆ button. With people like Snigg, Veto (in their pirating days) and Beer and Kebabs around (hunting us, mind you), we soon started to become more experienced. Discovering things like æInsta-bookmarksÆ for travel, to set-up and spot traps, to not assume a Safespot is actually safe (Thanks Mangold), the use of scouts, and much more.
While Amamake at that time was beautiful, we started running into our first growing pains after having spent slightly over a month there. Our corp had grown from a handful of pilots back in Chaven to close to a hundred members, due to us opening up to more then just Khanid pilots, and we couldnÆt rely on people to underestimate us having blobbed the hell out of most of the local carebears. Also, the high activity level meant that a lot of our members began to run into problems keeping flying. After an invitation to join up on operations with some other corporations, we decided to leave the Amamake area behind.

Edited by: Mi Lai on 19/02/2007 05:07:03 New Friends and Enemies in Khanid û April û July 06 Having joined up in the area with Blood Inquisition, Suffoco Noctis and Under the wings of Fury, we started out by initiating our first declarations of war, after having asked all members to help out collecting the wardec-fee. Some of the people with more then one account set up a small industrial operation, so by using a few ospreys and some cheap BPOÆs, we were able to keep our guys flying.
We also send out a mighty fleet of over 20 T1 ships to teach those evil guys in Delve what we think of being denied of our agents, and promptly gotten all of us killed in our raid into 0.0.
We also experienced our first and ever Corp Theft in our first week there, that led to the start of a recruitment procedure involving more then just guiding someone to the nearest office and explaining him how and where to find the buttons to do so. Unfortunately, our nanve and idealistic few on how noobs should be allowed to go out and PVP in a corp got bitten by the realities of EVE. All the better though, as it has stayed at just this breach for the rest of our time in EVE (at least as far as I can tell). Our membership was cut somewhat, and we hovered around the 50 members for our stay in Khanid.
While Blood Inq was helpful in setting up in the local area, they soon followed their own agenda and left the area. The co-operation with Suffoco Noctis and Under the Wings of Fury developed properly though. They would provide the firepower and special ships we lacked, like Cov Ops, Recons and properly kitted Battleships, while we provided numbers, tacklers and support cruisers. In order to solidify our co-operative efforts, we soon decided to fund an Alliance to simplify things, and thus Atrocitas (Atrox) was born.
Just as Khanid started to look somewhat better, the Alliance made the decision to move on.
Derelik û WhatÆs in a name? û July û August 06 Our move to Derelik was made in order to get closer to a home in 0.0, but was not at all great for piracy. Even Khanid, not one of the most populated areas when we were there, seemed crowded compared to the average system in Derelik. This, combined with æAlliance PoliticsÆ leading to having people you dislike being set to Blue (like the corp where our corp-thief originated from) and us fighting a war on behalf of people who previously hired mercs on us, was effecting the corp badly. When there was a nasty æBlue on BlueÆ incident later on and morale was dropping daily, it was time for change.

Edited by: Mi Lai on 19/02/2007 05:07:29 Transition Up till then, we never made a secret nor a problem out of the fact that we harbored several æaltÆsÆ of more experienced players. We didnÆt ask, they didnÆt tell, and initially this hardly led to problems. It was actually quite beneficial having some very experienced people around, and as CEO, I found it amusing to see the æaltsÆ of several warring Alliances happily flying and killing stuff together while in Sanguine. As we gotten older, more organized and more involved, this became a problem. Besides the obvious security risks when operating in or close to someoneÆs æmainsÆ corporation, it held us back having people betting on two horses in EVE. It also was an insult to the bulk of our members who invested time, effort and energy into making Sanguine a better Corp. As we decided to leave the Alliance and the Region, we also decided to get rid of all inactives and all altÆs. It wasnÆt an easy decision, as it meant saying goodbye to several people we have flown, fought and laughed with since March, but it had to be done. I even had to kick out a RL mate of 12 years, though fortunately, he soon rejoined with his main character as well and has continued to fly with us since. Armed with the core members, better skillpoints and experience, and a lot better equipped then when we left, we were going home.
Back home û September 06 û January 07 In order to ensure our smaller group (about 25 people, spread over several timezones when we headed out), we decided joining another Alliance would be best. As we already had flown around B&K, though always when positioning ourselves to shoot each other, we applied and got accepted into the Pirate Coalition. The new destination was also easily decided upon leaving Derelik: we would go back to Amamake.
Having set up shop in a nearby system, we soon spread out to do business. In the first week of pirating, we scored over a billion in loot, and when traffic in our system died and camping became boring, we set out and killed people in the surrounding areas in belts, at gates and at their safe spots with our own Battleships and Cov Ops pilots this time.
When Pirate Coalition changed, and us being wary of going through the same crap as we did in Atrox we left. Just as the first time in the area, we had a nice clean Standings board without any Blue on it.
The end in Placid - Current After Amamake gotten eerily quiet, it was time to move again. We set-up shop in Placid, which according to our initial scouts was a lot better traveled.
We celebrated our new home by flinging out some war-decs to the people around us, and achieved pretty decent stats on all of them.
Then again, some things werenÆt as rosy at they seemed. While we were getting close to achieving the dream we set out to achieve back in March, we were also slowly killing it. Instead of a squadron of Frigates struggling to take down a luckily found Battlecruiser, we now found, probed out and jumped some poor guy with a bunch of T2 kitted Battleships and Support. Even podding them after, always a source of great entertainment to me, didnÆt feel the same anymore. I Obviously wasnÆt the only one, as over the time more of our long term members began to loose interest in low-sec Piracy. Threads and suggestions to do other things, ranging from joining another Alliance to fixing our sec status and do high sec ganking were brought up in increasing numbers.
As there simply was no solution to both maintain Sanguine for what it is, was and perhaps will be: a Pirate Corporation and accommodate for an alternative course that would satisfy all our members, the decision was made to end it.
To all ex-Sanguine: we had a hell of a ride.
The Forum and Channels will remain open, though some access might be temporarily restricted to some for security while many of us enter a new area under a new flag.

/me sheds a tear
I used to run missions once. Despite having only half a mil of SPs and four mil isk, I decided I wanted to learn how to target other players and shoot them in the face. Sanguine Legion taught more than a few of us how to fit a ship, run a gang, and sing dancing queen.
I was only in Sanguine for three or four months, but it was without doubt one of the best times I had in EVE. Absolute quality Mi, I hope you're keeping the corp tucked away safe for a rainy day. We'll need a reunion tour sometime :)

I tried to say my goodbye last saturday night during the last ride of f1end, being a sad drunken idiot in veto public channel making an ass of myself while gatecrashing my vigilant 10 hops with a criminal timer. Sadly I survived and was unable to satisfy my desire to go out blazing like emilio estavez at the end of young guns.
We've had a good run of it. I won't forget the friends I've made along the way, and its been a privilage to fly alongside my corpmates. Definitely won't forget the good fights we've found along the way, nor the crazy times we've all shared together. Cutting our teeth in amamake, vampiric frigate gangs down the mannar pipeline, the betrayal of khanid warrior, the foundation of atrox, a bloodless revenge, our plight in derelik with our allies, the 'malka' incident, the great purging, the return to egg (HT's spree of death), the drunken 58-hop op, cold pizza, the smothering of huola, the placid campaign, defending destiny's science project, gobble-gobble cr@ck osprey ops into OSS space, kery & sulu's druken 140 hop op (conquest of outer ring 4tw), and all the other little things I can't remember right now.
Yeah, its been a good time. I'm sorry to see it all ending.
Goodbye f1end. -------------

Low sec piracy gets boring?
It's too bad about you guys - you worked hard to create a good corp that was respected by many and now, like so many other pirate corps, you're throwing in the towel. With my own venture just starting up it's tough to see a corp that I respected as much as I did closing its doors, especially when we do the same sort of stuff that f1end did. I shall endeavor to learn the lessons of f1end as I and corps like mine follow in your stead and shining example. Apparently you guys felt it was time to shut your doors and I respect your decision. Good luck in what you choose to do next and fly safe. --

I'm very sad to see you disband - fought you many times in various corps.
I must say the most fun was the first time around Amamake, the frig blob days. That is the way, I will always remember F1END. "New" players with the balls to fight, and not take it too seriously, when they got popped - for that you deserve a lot of respect!

I don't really know what to add, except that Sanguine made me the Eve player I am today. I joined up in mid-May when I was two weeks old, and have been with the corp ever since (except when alliance BS made me do my own thing for a week, but then the corp left the alliance shortly thereafter so I came back).
If F1END hadn't allowed alts during the time of my recruitment, I would probably still be mining and missioning with what used to be my main.

A sad day indeed, nothing will ever be able to compare with the fun we had in our early days, 15 bloodthirsty nubbins in t1 frigs, and Azuriel in his stabber. (z0mg!?!?he has a CRUISER!!)
Nothing will ever compare to the WTF moments some battleship pilots must have had when suddenly finding themselves swarmed by the suicide squad.
Nothing will ever compare to a drunken Mi Lai deciding to tackle a stabber, on the gate, in a rifter. <pop>
I lost count on the amount of times a confused FC gangwarped us all to our deaths, 12 merry pirates, all criminally flagged, in frigates to the station. <pop><pop><pop>
Or when FC warped us all to a gate, gave the order to jump, and a swarm of nubbin outlaws found themselved in highsec.
Or when... or when... or when....
I could list good memories forever.
Sleep well Sanguine, your legacy will linger on. May we all roam space together again some time down the road.
