There just bad implemented, bad positions, size and copy-paste.
They should be different sizes, putted on walls, and show different videos.
Now they look as some pre-alpha thing, and not fitting into station interiors, im sure CCP will fix those issues. My advice? Make them more like those concept undock ads from last year fanfest art panel |

I wouldn't mind them so much if they weren't repeating every 5 minutes. Put in an ad rotation that lasts at least an hour and I'll be happy.

Tacky marketing attempts, annoying, irritating, stupid and I'm out of words, or adjectives, or whatever the right word is for all that. In an earlier thread I threatened to quit if CCP didn't shut the nasty things down and I did; showed them, too. And I stayed quit for, I don't know, it was over thirty hours, I know. Taught them a good lesson.
But this is just more of the same, change for change's sake, just more flashy stuff to keep the kids attention. I realize this is a dynamic, evolving sandbox but a touch of stability wouldn't hurt anything. There are aspects of this game I haven't yet explored, but just from reading patch notes the mechanics of my future endeavors have swapped ends several times and will most likely change again before I enter my first worm hole, or build a command center or try to kill an Onyx.
I quit watching commercial TV several years ago due to the offensive, in your face marketing and I see no reason to watch it here.
Please, give us a switch to turn these things off.

Seems to me the best way to get rid of them is to, wait for it, turn your field view away from it. Tada! Its turned off.

Don't go ruining some perfectly good ***** fuel by injecting logic into the fray.
What's your next suggestion? like......Undock?!?!?
I think they are kinda neat. More variety please, but honestly guys if you can spend 5 min writing a complaint post, you can turn your field view so you are not staring at it.

Can't say that I like them very much at all. Add some multicolored lights, mirror ball, Donna Summers and we have a 70's era disco.
Seriously, If we are to have billboards as Advertising tools, make them relevant and available as a service to capsuleers. CCP loves their isk sinks, charge corps/alliances a fee for a 5-8 second advert. one caveat, turn down the brightness / flashy a bit. becomes distracting.

Civil discourse is uniquely human. After all, when is the last time a pride of lions and a herd of water buffalo negotiated SOV over a watering hole? Never.
Someone either gets their ass kicked or eaten. At the end of the day someone holds SOV.

I think they're really cool actually, especially so because it's not just NPC or fictional stuff. It's also a really good incentive for CCP to work and expand on corp logos. Those logos (and tickers as well) are in dire need of some love. |

I'd like the option to remove them mainly because some of them feature bright explosions and since it happens in the corner of the eye, it pulls my attention to them constantly.
The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

The default docking camera places a billboard at the top right corner. So you have to turn the camera away from it after docking. But not too far away because then there's one on the other side as well.
The option to turn them off is not a lot to ask for.

Meh, dun worry, at some point, not too far into the future they'll disappear as it will take ccp too much resources to maintain it over every new build. Like the jukebox, evelopedia, EON, the old camera, static background etc. etc. |

Really? Do people just enjoy complaining about ****? They're player created ads. If you don't like looking at them just turn your view.
I am fully on board with a longer rotation of ads.

I too would like the option to disable these billboards. They are distracting. Also I have heard that the video itself is constantly streamed and not part of the normal game install. If so this will greatly increase the bandwidth used by each client. Does anyone know if that is true? |
