As some of you know, in each EON we interview a couple of CCPeeps, and as was mentioned in the last issue, we thought it high time we let you guys ask the questions of the devs. So, without further ado, here are the subjects who on EON #7 we be getting a good grilling...

Petur, the designer of the CCG and frontman of the world-renowned RoXoR. Recently moved to Atlanta to join the White Wolf crew.
Ivar, who before Hilmar was CEO. He is also one of the co-founders of CCP. He's now chief bean-counter.

Q's to Petur:
1. White Wolf have a tradition of creating very dark / gothic RPG settings do you percieve / hope that will spill over into the Eve universe?
2. Can we expect more background, history and general 'culture' building of the Eve Universe to flow from the labs of WW? What sort of things do you have in mind, and over what time frame?
3. The CCG is pretty darn fine, but there was some criticism that CCP should concentrate on EvE itself rather than spread itself too thin, do you expect WW to take up this role?
4. How are CCP going to allay the fears of WW community that their game is going to be swamped by the l33t pew pew yaRr crowd of Eve? (seriously folks, check WW's forums!)
5. Any chance of a job helping design the EvE RPG?

1. Sooo...beans eh? Sounds like fun.
2. The PC games industry is a seriously crowded market, with MMOs a niche in that market and sci fi MMOs the nichest of niches (not sure those are real words - but you get the idea). Think CCP and EVE can stay afloat in this climate?
3. How and should CCP diversify it "EvE" market further? We now have a T-shirt, a CCG, and a RPG market to pander too - whats next?
4. Nanoships - overpowe...kidding.

Why do ccp continue to allow gtc for isk sales, when examples such as this continue to told by subscribers:
I know my mates also sometimes sell the odd GTC for ISK so they can buy a new ship to PVP in as otherwise they would have to carebare for a week to go out on fleet op's.

Dear Ivar I understand your a business but why allow alts or multi character accounts? They are an annoying crutch too many a person have become reliant on and need to go. If you really wanted to be a soulless business then why not just sell isk!?

Petur: Since you atm is working with the white wolf guys, is it any progress on the EVE pen and paper RPG, will it be a storyteller like game, as World of darkness, or a D20 like action game?
Ivar: What motivated ccp in general to merge with white wolf? i know some, as the thorarinson's got a motive, but the rest of you? are ccp a company of roleplayers in general, or is it other reasons as well?

Ivar: Having watched CCP grow since Eve was but an idea scrawled on the back of a cofeecup, what are your expectations for CCP over the next ten years in the increasingly highly competitive market of MMO's.

How about some real info on the CCP cheating and favoritism issue?
Not the white washed propaganda campaign stuff, the real info.
Why did/does ccp choose not to enforce the rules equally on all?
Why were/are some players allowed to gain advantages from exploits knowingly?
WHY has ccp decided to sweep all negative problems under a rug instead of addressing them with full disclosure to their clients, you know, those people that pay(used too pay) ccp a fee each month?
and now the highpoint;
Why should the playerbase trust ccp after the coverup, failure to enforce their own rules on their own people and those that gained by it knowingly?
WHY should we still support ccp?
delete this isd, and you prove ccp can't be trusted.
These are serious questions that should be answered in the public, unless it is embarrassing to ccp and they want to cover it up still (coverup already failed ccp, look at google, the internet is well aware...)

Petur: As the bean counter, you can probably answer this question the best. Are there plans to make a media advertising push (tv, etc) in the works for after the graphics update, since everything will look so much shinier and new, or is the benefit from a tv ad campaign just not worth the cost for ccp, even on specific timeslots/chanels (ie, sci-fi, history, discovery, other "geek channels").
And to whom it may concern: Does ccp believe that eve gains more from allowing players to own and run more than one account at the same time than it loses from having people not have to rely on teamwork and personal skills to attract people with a desired skillset? (roll alts to cyno, not have people willing to do this, have mining alts not protect actual mining players, etc)

What are the plans for the Jove faction? Any plans of letting players "evolve" or become a Jove player character? What about Using/owning Jove ships, modules, BPOs and other Jove stuffÖ?

Q1:
When will you develop Mining?
Other than moving the roids to an exploration site?
Have you checked the idea of having an OreCargoBay in ORE/EXHUMER Ships? So the JetCan mining can get removed once and for all?
Q2:
When will you fix the new region Asteroid belts? So it will become possible to mine there? (Regarding the bugged "low-unit" roids)

@Petur:
As the EVE CCG designer, do you know if the PnP EVE game that White Wolf are developing is going to be tied in with the CCG's mechanics and version of how the game works, or with the MMO's? The two do seem to have differing ideas of how the universe/corps/ships work after all.

Well, maybe a compound question plus intro, heh.
Here goes...
@Petur
While AURORA events are nice and all that, they're usually far too small scale, and the casual EVE empire-dwelling player hardly ever gets involved.
Are there ANY plans in place (or at least the intention if not the means) to create a nearly permanent empire presence of smaller-scale but wide-spread AURORA-supported events ?
If yes, can you give us an idea of how they would look like, or what one would have to do to find them ?

With the "company profitability" being your primary concern now, I suppose the recent boom of ISK<->GTC trades (and occasional subsequent GTC<->cash trades, certainly not via CCP or affiliates in the GTC->cash direction) hasn't gone completely unnoticed.
While at first sight, CCP doesn't suffer from this directly (all GTCs that end up traded and subsequently used mean real-life money for CCP afterall), after a deeper look it's clear it IS afterall CCP's problem too, as most ISK that get traded into GTCs and then (illegally?) into cash mean the ISK *HAD* to come from somewhere, and that "somewhere" means somebody has been using YOUR system resources to obtain them, alienating regular paying customers (lag, complex farming, mined out belts, etc) which in turn means less cash for CCP.
With all that in mind, what are CCP's goals and wishes regarding the whole ISK<->GTC<->RealMoney™ cycle ?
