Congrats and high fives to our BoB allies, excellent planning and execution, great after action report. Very commendable operation.
Also congrats to AAA who died seeking to do battle with their enemies, a very honorable death indeed. And to whomever replaced all losses no questions asked, you are a good man. Way to look out for your guys.
Good luck to both sides, more battle reports please!

hmm.. this was no battle..
Battle is 2 fleets fighting not a Dread at a POS that fires the DD through a cyno alt.
Although it was a well executed plan.

It doesn't take much refitting to survive a Judgement blast. Hopefully AAA will be revising their fleet fittings appropriately.
I believe bob have more than one sort of titan, kinda hard to super-tank multiple damage types at same time tbh. And people complaining how uber they are dont seem to realise how much effort goes into building them, nor the fact that titans have already been lost without exacting the sort of damage this attack did, and regardless of how well -a- fitted their ships that avatar is very far from paying for itself with ship kills. I am also certain if it had been evil thugs titan doing this to bob forces far less people would be complaining about how powerful titans are.

completely wiped out in 15 seconds.
You haven't played EVE for very long have you? Hundreds of players can lose years of work in much less time. Its what makes everything worth while.
Just over 2 years mate. As far as I can see the only legit way to lose "hundreds" of ships in 15 secs would be against a Titan DDD. Any other way would involve actually fighting with your ship and thus would be worthwhile.
It was the 60 au jump and their own dictor bubble that got them, even then the whole fleet was not destroyed so i dont know what you are complaining about. So far the number of titan attacks that killed negligable amounts of enemies or even more freindlies than hostiles exceeds the number of trully successful attacks (i think).
or y'know like, blobbing a system till the node crashes. or were you shedding tears for the wasted effort that LV put into their titan that was aborted too? -A- are extremely professional, so for them to loose so many ships like this is certainly a feat worth congratulating. even just on the tactical side, you don't have to like the idea of them loosing ships, but surely you can see the thought and preparation that went into this was rather clever.
As I said, legit ways, crashing a node isnt legit. Im not sure what the LV stuff is about.
I agree with the response further up regarding the building and deployment of a titan also requiring planning, preparation.
However, i was speaking only as someone with fleet bs experience. After spending ages waiting for the main fleet to form up, then moving out to the target system I would personally be quite miffed if the moment I jumped in and decloaked expecting an epic battle I was insta-popped along with most of the fleet.
Thats just my perspective, its just different to the "omg welldone, titans are ftw" view.

Edited by: Gaven Lok''ri on 21/02/2007 17:06:34 Ah I think the people complaining about Titans in this case need to think about what they are saying.
A victory like that is only capable with surprise on the side of the titan and a solidly laid plan. In this case BoB knew to the second when AAAs fleet was going to be in the position needed to kill it, because they knew what AAAs target was. AAA had effectively ceded any element of surprise, something that is almost always deadly to do.
Even so it sounds like it took some of the most solid planning I have seen in EVE to accomplish this one.
That kindof trap is only possible in very limited circumstances and played perfectly into BoBs hands. But one sided DDs like this one have been extremely rare, and I believe will remain so as organizations learn how to make sure that a trap like this cant happen to them. Unless one side makes a mistake that allows a trap like this to be played, the titans usability becomes more along the lines of forcing the enemy fleet out of its nice position rather than killing said enemy fleet.
The titan wasn't the 'I Win' button in this case, but rather the solid intel and planning that was employed to get it in position.

I'm about to escalate this to senior GM level, as there's pretty sustainable leads that Motherships have been docked by GMs in the past.
Done that. 'Our coders are aware of that problem, but currently we are unable to help you'. I guess we`ll have to wait till motherhips and titans will be like carriers and drednoughts today
Yeah, I guess... Although I know for fact they have the tools to dock a Mothership or Titan. It's just that they do not WANT to use those tools for Motherships or Titans.
It's a bit frustrating really. :) -

Gratz for doing and gratz for sharing as always with the community Farjung.
Gratz to AAA and especially Evil Thug for not whining and yelling in this thread like some of their assorted minor allies.
Well played all around.
Arguably my opinions represent to an extent the opinions of my alliance and in particular circumstances give rise to a valid "casus belli" claim. |

serously i think the possibility to fire a DD through a Cyno makes the whole battle (sic!) a bit boring?
