Problem is it is way too random at this point. You can still spend a ton of money and get absoutly nothing for it. That can not compete with people who you are now putting on legacy status. I for one have told many people I've played MMOs with that don't even bother with this game if your starting now because they artificially lock players out of content. Fortunatly they started back up the lottery. Guess I get to start telling people don't even bother starting again.
They only way I see this being made fair is to eliminate the possiblity of using the invention consumables and getting nothing. You would always get something for your investment of time collecting the parts. Then make the stats equal to the ME and PE of the researched T1 BPC in the process. This allows people to actually use invention to compete in the market with BPO owners.
On the bright side now I don't have to waste 2 months of training time and factioning with research agents for multiple research corps. Feel sorry for the people who have wasted time and money on all thoes research skills and time running missions for all thoes different corps.

Edited by: Ztrain on 24/02/2007 22:59:17 Like what was mentioned in the haves or have nots. If it is now going to be impossible to aquire in game content for newer players they why bother continuing to play the game? I was seriously considering dropping this game like a bad habbit to pick up one of the other more well designed MMOs. Not space based but still. You can start new and through time and effort aquire the best in the game. It appears now that CCP is going back down the road of new players being locked out of aquireing content. If that's the case it's time too see if CCP will be locked out of the pocketbook.
Didn't dev blog say this was something about restoring trust from the population due to dev cheating? Okay well we got caught cheating so now we're going to hurt the players because you caught us. Yeah way to go for restoring trust.

If you think you need a t2 bpo just to play the game then your playing the wrong game to begin with. Many industrial players have managed without t2 bpo's so why can't you as well.
You can manage. But the game will now lock players out of content. For example a new player starts playing today. How would a new player train up and get in to T2 production? It would not be possible. Even with Invention in it's current state you can no obtain a T2 BPO through in game methods. Other then grind for YEARS to get enough cash to be able to purchase one IF any current owners decide to sell one.
I 100% agree with the solution of NPC sellable BPOs purchased with RP. It allows for people to enter the game and get in to T2 production. Might months but definitly not years.

The dev's have come to realize the error or the lottery. But mearly removing the lottery does not correct the damage that has already been done. If anything it compounds the damage. Here would be my solution.
1. With current ME and PE standings turn all current T2 BPOs in to BPCs of 50 runs
2. Make the skill books semi rare drops off archology sites. Sinse only one of each skill book is needed for each character.
3. Keep the Data Interface BPCs and components around where they are.
4. Make Datacores 100 points per datacore purchasable off the research agents. This allows for reaseach agents to continue to have a purpose in the game as well as people who have remaining points to use them. While keeping the prices on the data cores cheaper allows for supply to match demand. Everyone will have the same access to T2 content in the game no matter what stage of the game they started. Long time players as well as new commers to the game.
