Edited by: Paddyman on 23/02/2007 12:30:24 I wanted to post this here because fights such as these are few and far between. Fighting today has become too much capital ships and you don't go 'back to the basics' very often.
A small camp of 5-6 war targets (FREGE) is spotted in the low-sec system of Atlar in Molden Heath. Dominix, Raven, Harbinger, Drake, Stabber and frigate support.
Noobjuice, equipped with the latest in speedphoon technology notifies over voice comms and the entirety of our online players, a single abaddon, heads out to aid in breaking up the camp. This promises to be a fun fight. Abaddon gets ready to jump into Atlar when he is suddenly stopped. Everything goes quiet for a second and then the words are uttered;
"They have a freighter"
The Fenrir landed on the gate a few moments later and jumped straight through, met by his friends on the other side. Abaddon jumps through and the fight commences.
The main goal here was to constantly keep a point on the Fenrir while staying alive. Primary: Dominix. Nos harbinger. Secondary Raven.
"Get a point on that ******* freighter" "Dominix has dampeners."
Sadly for us, the Abaddon landed as far as possible from the Fenrir and never got in disruptor range. The speedphoon was dampened by the Dominix. This, however, did not stop us from destroying the entire camp short of the Raven who jumped out in structure. Abaddon managed to tank sentry guns (accidental neutral fire), a battlecruiser and two battleships for quite a while.
The freighter had docked and we were getting ready to head back when Noobjuice suggests we take a back-route to their obvious destination, Skarkon, and place ourselves on the jump in to that system where they wouldn't see us. Covert ops in place and the waiting starts.
A few minutes later;
"The freighter undocked"
Fenrir then warped to the Skarkon gate and jumps in, only to find ourselves coming out of warp at the very same gate.
A massive battle ensues involving the Abaddon and Speedphoon on OMNOR's side and over 10 pilots on FREGE's side. Abaddon lands in range of the freighter and keeps its point while the phoon starts hammering the primary target with points, nos, missiles and drones.
The next sixteen minutes marked an epic battle where the two pilots attempted to keep a point on the freighter with seemingly endless ammounts of support coming out of warp at that gate. FREGE Dominix is first to go, then Drake and his friend in a Raven followed shortly after. But then...
"I'm jammed"
An assault frigate, who had been shooting at the Abaddon for the entire duration and not gotten much attention (short of a single nos) had managed to jam the ECCM'd Abaddon with a multispectral jammer.
"Freighter warped"
More FREGE support arrives and with the Abaddon's tank slowly faltering, things are looking bad.
Eventually, the forces were broken up and (mostly) destroyed. The kills*snip* no killboard links please. -Ivan K counted 17 destroyed and none lost.
This shows how teamwork (although much can be improved) of a small corporation can result in success. Even though the FREGE pilots lost the fight, they saved their freighter and remained civil in local. Both sides congratulated each other on a job well done. It also shows that the Abaddon is a ******* awesome tank.
For me, that's what Eve is all about.

Woot! Sounds like great fun!
Grats to you for the good battle and grats for the Frege guys that they brought through their freighter I'm sure both sides had quite a lot of fun in the end. That is what EVE makes such a wonderful.

When you consider the number of people tied to gate camps, fleet blobs and POS wars these days, the fights you guys had are a good reminder about the kind of fun that is possible.
Sounds like an exciting and fun time was had by all. I look forward to those kind of engagements again when this war thing has blown over. -

For me, that's what Eve is all about.
For me EVE is too often about people like you. Flying under a false flag, using the fact that you are blue to your target to not appear on their overview so that you can get in close and tackle for so your OMNOR friends can jump in a gank them. And then coming on here whinging about EVE not being fun, or fair or balanced. Or wasn't that why you were kicked from AXE. EVE to me is about small people and their small treacheries.

Its on the ISS killboard, Dekiri, you should still have access to search for him there. It rather annoyed me at the time as I had to handle the diplomatic mess this wally created so I remembered his name.

I was that freightor pilot. That was one of the most epic, annoying, amazing, intense, sweat inducing, pulse pounding, heart stopping engagements I have EVER been involved in.....and I couldn't shoot.
The freightor move was a logistical one. The 'camp' really wasn't, it was the guard forces whose job was specifically keeping the freightor alive.
We were impressed, then annoyed, and then utterly amazed at the setups used by our opponents in that fight.
It was a running gun battle through a couple of systems, and the back door end-around frankly DID catch us off guard.
Our hats are completely off to one amazingly well done job by O.rder, and ALSO to alliance members who jumped in to assist when our ships turned out to not be the right mix for the engagement. You guys had/have us talking about that fight...still.
Also, a side note, on discovering the reasons for O.order's war dec in the first place, I'd like to give a heartfelt apology to Omniscient Order for something I as a CEO would NEVER condone. Omniscient knows of what I speak.
Meridian salutes you on a GREAT FIGHT. (losing ships doesn't mean it wasn't a great fight...it means you LEARN.)

I was the raven pilot, you guys had an amazing duo going there. Even more amazing that it was a last minute thing, we thought you guys were roaming for targets setup to compliment each other. It was an awesome fight, despite our heavy losses, you owe me a raven :), we managed to get the freighter to safty. I look forward to our next encounter!!!!
