It seems, nobody mentions amarr cruisers, so being a new player to the game, id like to ask what is a better all round cruiser? It seems the maller is a much better tanker than the omen, so i would assume the omen has better damage output? Whats a more overall effective ship in pvp and pve/ratting? thankyou

Go for maller if you have the cash
Omen isnt all that more powerful, especialy if you're new player and new amarr players hardly have missile skills. So maller yields extra gun to throw stuff at your enemy and tank is just lovable, you can do missions & whatnot innit.
PS: pvp wise I have no idea.... but I'd recon maller would overdo omen there as well

Maller got better damage too, just chuck a heat sink in the extra low slot it's got and it does more damage than the Omen.

Yes, I always liked my ol' Maller over the Omen. I bought both and tried them out. Though the Omen has the RoF bonus, it has less armor and less fitting space, while the extra missile slot is not that great if you're just starting out as a turret-using Amarr character, as someone else pointed out, which is where I was at when I first got the Maller.
So, with the extra turret and fitting space for bigger and badder guns, not to mention more armor and tanking, the Maller is a better choice, in my opinion. Aesthetically, the Omen is a tad more appealing, but the Maller is kinda of cute, too, in its own way.
I used my Maller for missions and ratting, and was not disappointed.

i ran the numbers once, with (near to) max skills, the maller with 5 focused mediums guns and 3 heat sinks slightly out damages the omen with 4 focused mediums and 2 heat sinks (i used those setups because then u could actually fit other stuff for pvp)
however the omen has the drone bay, which tips the damage in its favor. the omen is also better looking and faster (which i like).
i personaly prefer the omen. i havnt use one for a while but my set up was (i think):
4 focused medium pulse 2
1 med nos
MWD
webebr
disruptor
small armor rep
800mm plate
2 heat sinks
nanofibre (for lack of anyhting better)
was brilliant in a gang, but tbh the maller does the job almost aswell, plus wont die the moment someone looks at it!
for pve, maller all the way, or arbitrator if you have drone skills

The Omen is the sexier of the two, I started with that one.
If you're not bothered about rushing up to level 2/3 missions or pvp or such, get the Omen, it's a nice cruiser.
If you're going to be pushing it hard get the Maller though, it's alot more forgiving at lower skillpoints.
