No that is wrong. They do have pilots. Have a look at this. It reads Quote: Single-pilot combat vessels, deployable from carriers and motherships.
Just because you can't control fighters directly doesn't make them drones. You cannot control Guristas Massacre too. Yet that's not a drone either.

Its like if the Imperial Star Destroyers flew past the X-Wing fighters and started flying circles around them, it would turn Star Wars into a slapstick comedy a-la Benny Hill instead

those fighters are under the "drones" tab on the item database, yes?
and you cannot right click and assemble ship, and make active, no?
and said fighters require drone skills, go in the drone bay, and are controlled the same way in which drones are, yes?
you answered my point, fighters are drones. period.
Magnetic Field Stabs are under "turrets & bays" tab on the item database, yes? Does this make them a turret or a bay to you?
I cannot "make active" a whole lot of things. This includes fighters, guristas massacre and so on. There is no reason to call them drones just because of that.
Yes fighters require drone skills and go in the dronebay. I'm not a carrier pilot but afaik most drone skills don't even affect fighters. And no, fighters are not controlled the same way as drones.
You answered your points yourself. Fighters are not drones. period.

I agree. It's basicly a roleplayng related thing. From this POV fighters are not drones. Yet they are mostly treated like if they were drones in fact. So from gameplay POV they are more of drones. But the thread was about something else. The story is telling us Caldari were meant to be the one's doing in fighters whilest Gallente are more of a non-pilot drone nature. So from roleplaing POV a Caldari carrier with Caldari fighters should do better than a Gallente carrier with any fighter. That is not what the game is about. I admit Gallente's drones would need to be able to be asigned to other ships in order to be effective against fighters. Roleplaywise it's a little bit b0rked the way it is.
