Damn I really really loved this game. Now considering leaving it.
If I wanted a lesson in real physics and real marketing, I would have signed up for some college classes though. I paid my subscription to have some FUN. You know, shoot stuff? Make money? Mine better than the other guy? Ok here's my long winded ***** about the patch...
*Amazing spawns. Don't really mind most of the time when I go hunting. Jumped into a 0.1 belt and suprised 1x45k and 2x 35k's in my thorax. 'Bout got done. 'Bout peed myself too. But I survived and they didn't. Is a problem if your mining though. With your (wtf?) cap drained from using your mining gear, you don't stand much of a chance if it's one or two people out there. Wife found that out shortly thereafter. So did a buddie of mine, a super gunner with excellent skills and weps. Neither could run when they needed to because of the cap draining. Your hauler sure wont make it out of the belt alive no matter who you are, and face it, if you cant haul it, theres no sense in mining it. I can see the point of encouraging group play, corps, complex manufacturing, etc. FORCING IT will be what causes me to unsubscribe. Nothing but big corps and agent runners will survive this patch, or any that follow. Solo'ing is dead as of Castor. Perhaps Tech II is not about new items or ships, maybe it's CCP's way of forcing you to join large Corps, specialize and (probably) be stuck there, and nothing more. You can influence groups to follow whatever storyline CCP wants, but I think solo'ism must add too many variables to the market they simply cannot control (BP copies, ect). All speculation on my part of course, but either way, its dead.
*Not everyone wants to be part of some mega corp CCP. Not everyone owns, wants or can afford a BS CCP. Now both are becoming the only means of survival CCP.*
*Could care less about Tech II. Miner II drains my ship (Thorax!? C'mon guys!) to undefendable levels. Mine or fight, but not both at the same time. Why not just make mining limited to BS? May as well put the bistot in empire space now. Tech II could have been lil more USEFUL don't ya think?
*Still trying to get all my current gear to work properly. Wont catch me running boring agent missions (much more slowly now) to get any of the new stuff, I have no doubt much of it will be just as useful. And the missions just as sleep provoking.
* I HAD cruiser mwd's before the patch AND the prints. USELESS. Thanks. That was my isk you spent CCP.
* Mine in frigate for the 60% cap bonus on the mining lasers? Only in noob space. That'll make frigates more useful....sure....right.
* Respawning the belts was a great thing. But now you can't mine in them in small groups or solo, or sell your goods without lots of (slower) continuous region hopping. Forced groups again. Good thinking. Now instead of trying to beat the competition to the sell orders we all knew about, we're trying to beat them to the jumpgates from region to region to sell what we manage to get...FUN!
* I really hope the unnecessary complexity of TECH II flops. At this point it doesnt/cant benefit anyone except those that don't really need it. Pay attention now devs: Months REAL TIME studying expensive skills to study even more expensive skills to use gear/ships no one can afford or build (or possibly use without some expensive skills) because no one can get the components/minerals because mining is too dangerous in ships you can't afford to replace with isk you cant earn.......Are we having fun yet? Not at these prices guys.
*And my favorite so far - when one of your new spawns does me while I'm mining, the insurance wont cover the cost. Rated at NPC cost you say? Then tell the NPC's to build and market some ships at those costs. Maybe if the NPC miners (source of NPC megacyte which is much cheaper and never on the market) were in the belts mining, we could steal ore from them and make a living.
I don't mind more danger in the belts. Like a challenge. I can once again build the correct MWD's. I can still mine with 4 miner II's and wear a (oooh) single expander all at once on my beloved (extremely cpu challenged) cruiser despite all the damn cpu upgrades that takes (electronics lvl5 btw) to run that crap, but it has all been at MY expense in time, hassle and isk. Now you want more of the same? People are logged in more now cause everything they did before now takes twice as long.
Awsome balancing job guys. The ships and gear are now underpowered, slower, more dangerous to use, more expensive and harder to get. The asteroids below .5 are essentially worthless, no matter how fast they respawn and grow. You cant effectively mine them anymore. My fun meter is dropping every hour I'm wasting now...
Did you really play this way on the test server? gee. fun....
