Edited by: Caillech on 27/02/2007 22:49:31 The locust idea holds merit:
- Swarm 40 capitals and support on a weakly defended outpost
- Squat and hold the system while cranking out capitals for two months
- Sell outpost shells to highest bidder
- Pick up stakes/POSs, move to Empire, take a few fun contracts
- rinse
- repeat
Problem is they are preying upon weak alliances, usually their clients who are not Bob. So pretty soon all they have left are big alliances and are back to politics.
Another option is, "Will work for capitals" - take payments in the form of capital ships. How many builders want to pay MC with Motherships that might be raping their fleet tomorrow, though?

Well, so what? I mean, if they are to be believed, nobody has beaten Bob's offer to date. Do they care? It's the best that the market is providing. Anyway, back on topic:
I don't know if they have to do anything. If Bob wins or draws, great - they are part of the new hegemony or take contracts in the in-fighting sure to occur down the road. If they lose, and MC loses their space, what does it matter? They're out a few POSs, and the outposts will always be there. They can strike a similar deal with someone else or just sell out to the highest bidder. Say what you want, a lot of people are going to be in the market for those caps if and when Bob dies, outposts or no outposts, neutrality or no neutrality.
It kind of seems to me like they have a no-lose situation here.

But what would that change? They would still get the unending flames about being in Bob's pocket, plus they would close off any possibility of offers from others. It wouldn't change anything and would leave them worse off.
I hate agreeing with a slaver, but Gaven has a point. What does the Coalition gain from this? Whatever the reason, MC claims they were trying to stay out of it. Why not at the very least push them to do so then shoot them once Bob was finished? Driving them into the conflict now just doesn't make any sense to me.

Certainly holding together is the Coalition's biggest risk, but if MC is such a non-factor, why do they spend so much time talking about MC in threads?
