Can someone explain to me why that seems like a good idea to some? Is there any scenario where that would actually be beneficial?

Anyway, we already have an EvE 2.0 or higher. The engine and gameplay has been revised in such a drastic manner, that one can hardly argue that the initial EvE released in 2003 is even close to what we have today. Yeah, that's the same way I think about it. Weirdly enough the latest place I saw this actually wasn't GD here, it was GD over on the Dust 514 Forums.

Luckily that **** has been shut right down Okay, you seriously feel it necessary to continue shitting on a game we loved? I'm going to assume you're one of those that's still bitter about it not being on PC.

But me still likey what we have now. No legacy code to hold you back, instead we have all new bugs and code to hold us back for the future. You forget that bugs don't exist anymore thanks to all modern day software being perfect.

Please restore my faith in humanity ... Spend any amount of time reading f&i and you will end up with a grab bag. My personal favorite one was along the lins of "other players are better at eve than i am, and theyre co operating, ccp this isnt fair, please adress this immediatly or ill unsub my eleventy twelve accounts ktnxbby" Ihavent seen "eve 2" tabled in a while but its definitlybeen asked for a lot. Always laughed at of corse and rightly so. I remember that thread!
I've never really understood the concept of "I can never catch up", by the way. When I first got into the game there were people who had been playing for 5 years and had more skill points than I even knew what to do with. I just accepted that as part of the game and it never really mattered.
Only 7-8 months into the game I managed to tackle a Loki and hold it down while tanking it's damage until blues could show up to take him out. I think I was in a shitfit Navy Omen.
People need to drop the inferiority complex and just play for their own enjoyment.

Yeah, CCP would NEVER decide to wipe out all progress from all players of one of their games, and then make them start anew on a PC instead of a PS3.... wait.... Yeah, that's the one flaw in that statement. They'll almost certainly never reset EVE, but to say they've never done so for any of their games is now inaccurate.

There are no mission hubs, no PVE at all, no security guards protecting carebears, not even invulvnerable trade hubs. Every trade hub has to be built by players and can be attacked, every single thing in the game is built from the wrecks of other players. In EVE 2.0 the only rat left to grind is you. Then again I suppose you would still need to be able to build things via industry and mining... oh hell did I really just say that. What would goons do all day in such a game? Station spin? I did say there are no safe unattackable stations right? Oh, even better!
Some people have been talking about the idea of Project Nova players being able to raid into ALL space stations to capture ships docked inside even when the player who owns them isn't online. Obviously we've been telling them that's crazy, but hey, in EVE 2 anything goes!

You got what you asked for, a wild unfunded answer. Nothing wrong with me, are you sure you asked the right question? I think he was talking about me.
I made the thread because I honestly didn't understand why that keeps being brought up every week or so. Not just here either. I see people bring that up on Reddit and even YouTube on occasion and I just don't understand why anyone would think that turning this game off and starting over from scratch would magically make everything better.
I guess the part I wasn't considering is what some of the people in this thread pointed out: people who see veterans as a threat would now be on "equal footing" with them based on everyone's SP being reset. Of course, that says nothing about knowing how to play the game - which is more important than SP - but that's just people's misconception of how the game actually works I guess.

Kaya Okanata wrote:Might I suggest a less antagonistic reason for people wanting EVE2 than I've seen so far here?
I can? Thanks.
Perhaps it's that there is over twelve years of code, much of it redundant and most of it sub par, causing all kinds of problems and making changes for the better nearly impossible. Perhaps people want a reboot to improve and modernize the game.
What I'm seeing in this thread is a bunch of old curmudgeons that fail to see the difference between reboot and reset. Well CCP is already going back and re-writing old code that's holding back new features. They've been doing that for years.
