I'll be 58 in a couple of weeks :) We have a lot of folks over 50 in Signal Cartel and at least a few in their 60s, but also a lot of young players. It's fun to see how everyone mixes so well. I'm convinced that a big reason we've been able to curate our Credo-driven "peaceful space hippie explorer" corp culture is because our members' average age is above the median for the game.

I'm 42 as of yesterday , 42 isn't old in EVE, WE are the young whipper-snappers here it seems . Although some nights I do want to yell at people "hey, look at all these young'uns in their fancy new souped up Ortruses and Garmus and Svipuls!. Back in my day you flew a slow assed Drake and LIKED IT!"
Then again last night on mumble we were talking about age and like a solid 1/3rd of people in our channel were under 24, 3 of them were like 19.

What a pleasant surprise to see people my age and significantly older rocking New Eden.
I always had this false notion that I was in the mix with primarily university students or twenty somethings.
I'm in my late 40's and it's great to see players still captivated in their 60's. I look forward to enjoying many many more years undocked.

That could be the 78-year old I heard about soon after I started playing.
I personally know a 64-year old player, and another very entertaining player who's in his early 50s.
Otherwise the players I'm most in touch with are, like me, in their 30s. |

Just cracked 61 myself, although I have come across a few similarly aged older folk.
Just moved into PvP since amassing my fortune in indy. Loving the thrill of PvP which is good to keep the blood flowing & the heart pumping. I can't say the thrill of PvP is better than sex, but it's a hell of a lot more regular. |

Our village elders used to tell tales around the camp fire about the events you mention. As children, it made our imagination run wild. I do remember the time a young man came to our camp and asked for food and water. As he ate and rested, he told us that he was the son of God and that he would die for our sins. We thought the poor chap had spent a little too much time in the desert sun. Years later, he would be crucified by the Romans for telling the same crazy story. Small world!
Seriously though, I remember ...
Walter Cronkite and the CBS news nightly "Body Count"
JFK, RFK, MLK Assassinations.
Riots in Watts
Kent State
"Duck and cover"
Watching "The day the Earth stood still" at the Drive-In theater.
The Doors.
No Internet, Satellite TV, Computers, Smart phones, or Cable.
My first flight to Disneyland (Disney world was not built yet) on a Continental Boeing 707 with "Real" Women as "Stewardess" who looked pretty, smelled good and smiled.
College, Career, Family, Retirement, Boredom, then...
Eve!
Life is Good

Someone either gets their ass kicked or eaten. At the end of the day someone holds SOV.

My father would tell the Gas Station Attendant to "fill'er up with Ethel" . It was 26 cents a gallon! ( That's "Tetraethellead" for you youngin's. A Gasoline additive containing lead to reduce "knock' or "ping" (Pre-ignition) on engines with relatively high compression ratios ( roughly 9.5:1 or greater).

I remember seeing signs at gas stations for 25 cents a gallon. :P
My older sister used to let me stay up late to watch the original Star Trek series its first time on TV when my mom was at work.
Penny candy was a thing. All day sugar coma for a quarter :P

I have been a Stones fan since 1964, well, up to and including Exile, but I have to say that the best band I ever saw live were Led Zeppelin in December 1971.
Black Dog live is just amazing.

57 here - been playing EVE for almost 6 years now.
When I was in EVE University, we had one fellow who was in his late 80's - I recall he told me he was 87 years old. A retired engineer, he loved being in fleet ops, especially mining fleets - he enjoyed chatting with other players, and liked the more relaxed atmosphere that mining ops provided. A good guy - everyone liked him.
Not sure what happened to him - last I saw of him was about three years ago.
This gives me hope that I might be able to play EVE Online for another thirty years. :-)
I am an unapologetic fan of EVE Online. My blog: http://nevillesmit.com/ - My Twitter: https://twitter.com/NevilleSmit

Also lead in our gasoline exhaust. And on summer evenings a truck drove around town spraying a fog of DDT to kill the mosquitoes. What doesn't kill you can only make you... stronger?
