Any recommendations on the best, moderately priced video card for running EVE? I've heard ATI cards tend to be problematic. Not sure if that's true.

I won't knock one or the other, but for price/performance, you can get 7950GT 512meg ram NVidia cards (Evga) direct from several online retailers for under 200.00.
--got mine for 187.00.
Personally I prefer nvidia over here. (better linux drivers.  )

Some radeons got issue with eve, but it doesnt really matter what graph u got, eve is not using it.
It suck cpu instead.

I'm running EVE excellent on my NVidia 256mb PCI card, which sucks if you know anything about video card slots. It all comes down to your motherboard, if you have an AGP or PCI Express slot then get a 256mb or above. If you're stuck with a standard PCI slot then aim for 512mb and you'll never have a graphics problem with EVE ever again.

My 256 Meg nVidia Geforce 7300 GT (PCI-E) runs EVE beautifully!
I never drop below 90 FPS, even in deadspace, unless I have fraps on.. stupid fraps.

I like my ATI X1300 AGP 8x. Though, to be fair, eve played reasonably well on my old ATI 9250 PCI.

The best thing to know is that kind of card you currently have. Is it AGP? PCI-E? Those are the slots a new graphics card would go into, and if you have an AGP card currently, there are some AGP cards still available, but you will have to shop carefully to not get the wrong thing. I don't keep track of ATI cards as i have never had one work to my satisfaction, but in AGP, there are 7600 series cards still available.
If you have PCI-E and are willing to wait just a LITTLE bit longer, when ATI releases their new series of R600 cards, Nvidia is supposed to have a WHOLE new lineup of DX10 capable (and most of them will blow the 7xxx series cards away in DX9) 8xxx series cards all ready to launch to try to steal ATI's thunder. Should be within 6 months.
Can you wait that long?

7600GT is a really great card for around 120 dollars.
Any cheaper and it starts getting a lot worse, and any better and it starts getting a lot more expensive.
