Stories of 95% of people turning off the sund are greatly exagerrated.
But no, you cannot nerf the warp sound.
I haven't met a person who has been in the game over 3 months who still has sound enabled. Guess you make the one! I would say more than 95% of players of three months or more disable sound due to gameplay issues.
I would say 99% leave the sound on. And oh look, my random statistic is as valid as yours.

Every FC I have ever flown for has standing orders to turn sound off.

I usually play with sound on, and i've been here for a very long time. Tell those other people to shove it. If your computer runs fine with the sound on, more power to ya. I have no suggestions for the warp sound, but if you zoom out alot, the weapons sounds and stuff taper off. If I'm using TS or something, then yeah, i'll turn the sound off just to avoid audio-clutter.

You can say what you like, my 95% guess is based upon actually talking to people, listening to people and reading what people post on the forums about sound over the last 3 years.
Sure, you can randomly (as you admit) make numbers up, or you can make educated guesses. I attempted an educated guess, you chose the path of complete randomness. I wonder which is likely to be closer to the truth?

Edited by: Exelon Bei on 05/03/2007 08:43:13 Edited by: Exelon Bei on 05/03/2007 08:38:20 I usually play with sound off to, but thats because of the to high missil sounds in most missions(and the warp sound). And yes I get a little more lag(little) with sound on, but thats just when there are alot of turrets(artys are worst) fiering at me. The music doesn't cause any lag at all, for me atleast. In fleet battles I wouldturn it off ofcourse.
EDIT: I remember reading something about making the warp sound a supple hummm by doing something with the files about a year ago. Anyone remember anything about that?

I turned the sound off because I play with AP on a lot.
AP + warping + no way to mute either and leave the rest of the sounds on = no more sound
