Huh. You're correct sir. I could have sworn I saw them in there. I retract my previous snarky comment.

Snarkiness aside, it does not appear that they made any real announcement regarding the Daily Opportunities. There's an Opportunities map, but that looks more like it's a one-time for a starting character. |

We had a neglected alt party last night. All my non pewpew alts haulers/buffs etc formed a fleet with other neglected alts and flew our poorly skilled/fitted ships into a bunch of random sites to get everyone's last daily.
It was fun while it lasted, got lots of "free" SP out of it. Lets hope the new ones are worth logging these guys on for. |

CCP decided that this incentive wasn't worthwhile because it didn't guarantee you'd get blown up by the griefer class. They are working on a new incentive that's only realistically available to veterans piloting titans.

The igb was a piece of garbage at best and outright security hazard at worst. Its been marked for death for at least a year or two, probably longer than that.
As for dailys, good riddance, not a feature ill miss.

Its obviously good business to put in a nice peice of content like 10,000 skill points, not advertise it, not email past subscriber base about it, not attempt to deceminate that information too the mass's in any way at all....
And then when it doesn't get veterans like myself who left the game to return decide it was a failed test.... No the fact I returned was a timing coincidence, I didnt know anything about the 10,000 skill points at all.... However I was pleasantly surprised to find it and so I got all my eve mates to get active again and we got about 6 plex between us and now..... You have taken away your test.....
So now we will likely take away our test and let our subs, return to an innactive state! So while your numbers may not have shown it you did infact get atleast one returning Vet to stay for a short time, because of that feature, admitedly its not the reason I came back but it was the reason that made me say, it looks like eve maybe worth giving a second shot.... well atleast that was the reason.... now I get to be annoyed by a camera waisting my time every time I change a ship and no more 10,000 SP points to try and close the gap between me and the inactive players...
So guess what my willingness to give eve a chance really wasn't very high when I first returned infact my mates were very surprise that I stayed as long as I did.... thanks for making it an easy choice to walk away again! |

It wasnt so much of a test as an information gathering experiment. They are, from my own conclusions, playing around with ways to login AND be more active in the game. They stated that they were using it to gather data and it wasnt set to either stay or go away.
My guess is that they are going to take the data and use it to make a more effective version of it. It was replaced by the isk opportunities( which use to pay nothing before and were extremely annoying for an experienced player on a new alt). I imagine this is also an experiment. The bit of isk you can gain from opportunities now will help very young newbies get in a "real" ship a bit easier.

As a HiSec 'carebear' it did impact how much I logged in, and I usually stayed for an hour at least so it did up my gameplay time. However, I know there was a lot of complaints from the vets with Old School characters with just time in game, so that and the fact that it was probably far more successful than CCP imagined at doling out SP's is probably what doomed it.
They would've been a little smarter just to knock it down to 5K SP per day rather than kill it altogether. It would still be somewhat worthwhile to do if you had the spare time to log in, but an even lower impact on the SP sell/buy market.

Its very dis proportionate. You can train 1 mill ish sp in a month for 950 mill(plex) and a skill injector with 400k sp costs 700m. Costs will only keep going up. SP shortage big time. |

It's a chuckle, but at the same time, underlines an issue. When a player feels forced to log in more than they'd normally want to, whether by stick (losing corp membership) or by yummy yummy yummy SP carrot, eventually you're going to accelerate long-term player burnout. That's probably the opposite of what's desired, even if a short-term boost in numbers happens. |
