Been playing Eve for about 5-months now, so would class myself as in the middle of the game.
Pre-patch it WAS very easy, heck in a Thorax mining Omber the return was very decent, moving down to Stain. Bist was present, and all the other nice ores, in our own system with a station. Rats where a joke, chain spawning ensured that myself and fellow corp members could either spend our time mining, or chaining rats without much risk. Ok, there was the risk of the meanie CA coming to visit however that is the price you pay for being down there.
After the patch, Stain is very very difficult. Bist has been moved far out. it isn`t impossible to mine, however when you have a 42 round trip, in a nerfed indy, it is not the raking in the ore type game it was before. Before the patch, I could solo the chain spawns, not always easily, but it was possible...now, not a chance. I havn`t warped into a belt alone since the patch, and no intention of doing so until they adjust them, or tech II proves to be a saviour with them.
Before patch, I did a few missions, found them tedious eventually. After the patch, I have done literally hundreds, have hundreds of research points, and our corp hanger is stuff to bursting with the tech II components.
I don`t think I am un-typical of any player out there that has played the game for a few months, and in a decent sized corp.
Everything isn`t all smelling of roses, I would like a few things altered, and then this game would seriously rock.
1:) Agent missions, vary the rewards...sick of getting yet another 50 Amarr shuttles, or another 5 basic magnetic BP`s...Not saying the Lv3 cash rewards are not ok, just variety.
2:) Fix the indy, people do not appreciate long hauls, they hate them even more at a snails pace in dangerous space. I am not saying speed them up directly, but at least let them fit a MWD ! Even if it is a "special" Indy one with reduced use.
3:) NPC Spawns, come on CCP...you know they are to tough for a lot of people. We have adapted, we do use support vessels to keep the tank ship alive, but not everyone has those resources...especially in 0.4-0.1 space !.
4:) Rock distribution. Regardless of what others may say, Stain has been crippled in regards to rocks to munch. YES we have Bist, but mmmmm...you made it really hard to ferry back and forth hehe. And where are the other ores? I mean, Omber the stable roid of all upcoming players, has all but been taken away, well, pushed out with the Bist.
I am enjoying the game more than ever before, great to see kestrels trying to slam my BS out of the sky, nice to see a lot of other aspects of the game, sort the main gripes out, and as mentioned elsewhere, this game can only grow from strength to strength.
