What would you guys think about a drop from PVE content that offers an SP boost in various skills?
For example, you kill a named pirate (new random spawn), 'Drone Master Dave' for example and a cargo container contains 'Drone Interfacing expertise' which could give a ~30k SP boost to that skill instantly. All of these types of item should be character bound and here's why:
What if you're already maxed in that skill? You can still activate it. It doesn't improve your stats further, but it adds bonus SP to the skill, which can be extracted. Collecting 15 of these items would allow you to fill a skill extractor, assuming you were already maxed in those skills, or didn't want them.
If you don't own have a skill injected, it could act like a free book too! |

Implants are already drops that boost training.
Even if this idea was implemented. It should never be restricted to the char that picked it up. You should be able to sell them on the market. That means players who rarely pve can still get them for the right amount of isk.

How about NO.
Keeping things on an equal footing SP wise between those who can play several hours every day versus those that can only play a few hours every week was and to some degree still is one of this games best ideas. With skill extractors / injectors CCP has already gone to far to cater to the I deserve to get more SP because I spend more hours playing the game crowd.
Instead of adding more ways to tip the balance of the game in favor of those who have no real life other than to play video games CCP should simple remove the skill extractors / injectors and put us back where we were. |
