I expect to lose ships, a lot of them, while im learning what to do and getting over the intial adrenaline rush. Is it viable anymore, what with T3D's and cruiser spam?

I have seen them pull off things that only a madman would consider. Raven is what I was thinking of, if im honest, T2 rapid heavies make mince of things, only problem is cap stability. I was looking at the marauders, Golem specifically ( love my caldari), playing about with EFT and things, you can get some crazy numbers, but thats with torps though, dont you need like 2 target painters to get the most out of them? Would that gimp the fit?

If you were roaming with a Rapier, it would be more plausible, but that works better with a Widow. Consider how much ISK you are putting at risk for every engagement. The higher the number, the more sense it makes to have additional friendly ships in the fleet to deal with hostile ships & ship types you cannot handle.

Being able to beat cruisers and smaller isn't really the problem though, it's simply how much ground you can cover, and the response of the locals when they see a hostile battleship in their space.

You might want to double check the scram bit. Pretty sure Bastion no longer stops points & scrams since the change to Ewar resistances overall. Also pretty sure it doesn't stop webs. Neither really matters while in Bastion but it does change things right when you exit Bastion (Assuming of course that CCP haven't yet again changed that tiny aspect)

Tank can get pretty heavy, and you get tons of utility, drones can make most of your DPS leaving space for neuts and even blasters in the highs. If I had motivation to fly outside of my home system, I'd be welping dominix's daily.

I don't know if you mean true solo, or just you and a couple alts. I would always advise links, when it comes to battleships though. Domi's and Geddons are great ships to fly. Domi's can be fitted with a full rack of medium hybrid and triple repped, it'll shred smaller gangs pretty effectively. The Geddon has really niche RHML fit that is nano'ed that'll work wonders on fleets not expecting it, but needs to be linked and drugged and probable snaked as well. RHML ravens that are either Structure tanked or dual X-L Anci are fun. Kitting Megathrons will sorta work if the enemy isn't expecting it. Same goes for the it's cousin the Vindicator. The Navy Phoon is also another great RHML plateform, The Hyperion is another brawler, You just need to look at Hyde's solo work to see how the rattlesnake is. Nightmare is really good as a dual propped or triple propped. The only really thing that will **** on your cake are HIC's and capitals honestly. `#DeleteTheWeak`

Yes you're going to lose that battleship but with a bit of luck you'll take down a few with you, also it's the "yeah I'm flying a BS, I know it's not super optimal but I find it fun, deal with it". This has to do with EVE being a sandbox and as long as you're having fun you're playing this sandbox rightGäó. Doesn't mean I would advocate doing solo pvp in a BS, especially not if a newbie would ask about (not saying you are) but if someone has given it all some thought and then decided that it would be hilarious to do so, go for it. The obvious ships have already been mentioned but I would want to add that this whole thing about Marauders being amazing is mostly about having gang links as support and dealing with people who don't know what marauders are (which happened a lot back when they were new but these days less so, obviously).

Your faction ammo for cruiser sized targets, and carry precision ammo for frigate targets as well. Fury is probably best saved for battleship sized targets you may come across. Also, grapplers on ravens is kind of pointless, since they really don't shine unless somebody is trying to get under your guns, which ravens don't have. I think the double webs are best. Sanity is fun leaving the body.
