My Retriever got blown up the other day. No big, it happens, I can make the money back in an hour or so. Or less. Anyway, the issue is that I want a little payback.
The player who blew me up was in an arbitrator. Now I have a nice fancy Prophecy but I'd really like to get this guy with my PVP alt (who isn't quite ready for it yet).
Here's my issue. This guy blew me up for no good reason. But he's in an NPC corp (Caldari Prov) so my corp can't exactly set his corp to -10. I can set my standing to him to -10, yay. But my alt... can't do much.
So I thought I'd set a bounty on this guy and my alt could then pick it up. Except the guy has a +2 sec rating or whatever you call it.
Wait a minute, how does a guy who blows people up for no good reason have a +2 rating? Is it because he blew me up in low-sec? So can I come in with my alt and blow him up in low-sec with no change to my rating? And how the heck can I find this guy without him having a bounty? I mean that's a little needle in a big haystack.
Help me serve revenge up cold!

Edited by: Paladineguru on 06/03/2007 20:15:19 your problem is that he probably rats in 0.0 thus resulting in a high security status. he either didn't lose enough to go negative on just killing you, some how you were aggro'd to him, or he went negative from the kill, but by the time you found him he had spent a few days ratting in 0.0 to get his sec back up.

Were you using a jetcan at all? That, or he built up his sec status before popping you.

You should have a killright on your char against his for about a month, this means that for a month, Rakilmarid can freely kill him once in any sec space, without concord interfering.
In low sec you can kill him at a belt or planet etc. You can also engage him at the station or gate, however, if you do not have kill rights (your alt) then then gate guns will shoot you.
Good luck with getting your revenge, this is what eve is partly about :D as long as you keep it in game, then it is much fun .

Your Retriever character has killrights on him and should be able to take vengeance upon him in Empire space if he wishes. Unfortunately, your PvP alt will only be able to attack him in lowsec without concord interference, as long as it's out of sight from sentry guns and billboards. Unfortunately, the attacking character WILL take a security hit for it.

Edited by: Rakilamarid on 06/03/2007 20:20:05 Well, that makes sense. So I have to find him, kill him, then rat in 0.0 to get my status back. Not a problem.
Except for finding him... I mean how the heck?
Maybe a contract for information leading to the pew pew of Mr X?
Also this is a real problem with mining/industry players. My character is a miner, not a killer. So yeah I have killrights, but I don't have the skills to do anything with them really.
I'm tempted to form my own corp with just 2 people in it; me and my alt. Wonder if that would help things.
This stuff happens to miners a lot. I lose a ship every 8-12 days to pirates. Retrievers can't fit warp stabs so they're at the mercy of whoever. And they can't last long enough for my buddies to show up. You have like 3 seconds to warp out before your f***ed.

finding someone is ez provided you have standing enough to use an agent with location of players as a search option the higher standing the more likely you can find him with a better wider searching agent

Thanks, I had forgotten about that. My alt is running missions right now with one of those agents!

Just remember:
0. Look at your character sheet, kill rights tab - make sure he's in there as killable. 1. You can only kill him ONCE. 2. You may NOT kill his pod. 3. Once you SHOOT HIM he may freely defend himself. None other may help him, however.
These are the three golden rules, as far as CONCORD is concerned. You won't get a sec-hit for claiming a kill right, so no need to go ratting afterwards.
Oh, and your security status won't really matter as long as it's above -1.99 (bounties doesn't hurt anyone, and matter for nought) - EVE is sick. |

1. "Because you can" is a good enough reason to blow someone up. Reselling expensive mods from the wreck is another. 2. Lots of folks hunt until their status gets too low then they go back into 0.0 to make it back and make some ISK for ships and mods. Wash, rinse, repeat. Sec status is not a valid indicator of how a player will react in low sec. 3. Add the person to your address book so you know when they log on or off. When they log on convo and ask if they want a rematch. Usually you have to hunt for targets. Having one deliver itself is much easier. 4. The more you mine in low sec without protection the more you and the area you mine in get to be known as an easy target. 5. The only thing bounties are good for is giving the pirate bragging rights.

Blowing up one's ship in Low Sec isn't much of a sec hit which is why he still has a positive sec rating. If he podded you though, he would have taken a much stiffer hit.
Don't feel bad. Yesterday, i did the dumbest thing I have ever done in this game to date. I unknowingly flew my Hurricane into a Dusk to Dawn system and needless to say, I lost that ship. Thank you CCP for insurance.
