Everyone,
Invention is currently receiving some love by CCP but there are some immediate impressions that I think should be considered.
One thing that is constantly if concern is the possibility of "crashing" the tech II market. Although I think that would not necessarily be a bad thing but I do feel the pain those lucky few that have a corner on the market would feel.
As for what I think is WRONG, I know tons of people, myself included that chose research early in the game (2003) and have been a paying member of the eve community for 3+ years without a single offer.
Now, with invention, we can make our own BPC's. Here is where I see the main problem. A few, LUCKY, lottery winners basically have had complete control of the market. Those of us (the majority) have to actually WORK to research blue prints.
The killer in invention vs the lottery (which will go away, but so will new bpo's) is that the lottery winners get and will keep their BPO's while real researchers and inventors: I.E. those that have to aquire the Datacores, Original BPO, Various interfaces, and the skills, all of which is worth billions in todays isk market, then actively work on invention running jobs, get rewarded with what?? a poor quality BPC.
Seems those that work the hardest, take the risks, and spend ISK on invention, recieve the least, and those that do nothing (and the lucky few at that) get to print isk with their access to the BPO's.
So, without defeating the tech II market and those lucky winners of the lottery, how about meeting in the middle somewhere? Perhaps it is time to introduce NEW invented FACTION, CORP or CUSTOM ships and modules / rigs that when inventors invent something, they actually get a REAL BPO for their investment in TIME, ISK and RISK for it all?
It can be NEAR Tech II quality, and or even Multi Racial customized ships / mods etc. This will widen the market, give "inventors" the payoff they really deserve and preserve the Tech II market as well?
Please dont flame, it is only an idea and I would be interested in its merits.
