If you are reading this I suppose you at least have some kind of interest in our corporation. If this is the case, then please read on and decide for yourself if our corporation is worthy of your presence.
The Descent - The leaders
The Descent is a new corporation started by Ambet and myself (Joshua'Raven). Ambet is an experienced EVE online player and I am the fresh blood that plunged himself into the massive online world "EVE Online".
Ambet is twenty two years old, has been playing EVE online for about 8 months now and has a lot of experience when it comes to corporations and the gameplay that comes with it inside the EVE universe. His vision and ultimate goal was to start a corporation existing of new players that bring a fresh look to the game, together with more experienced players that know the game and it's uniqueness and can bring the rookies (such as myself) up to par with the rest of the universe so we can be a force to be reckoned with.
I myself am twenty one years old and have been playing EVE for only two weeks now, but have already purchased a longtime subscription to the game so my dedication will most certainly not slip away for a long while. I've had the pleasure of running clans/guilds in my career as a gamer so while my experience in EVE is seriously lacking at the moment, I can (or at least I hope I can) certainly make up for it with my experience in managing large groups of people and everything else that goes with running a clan/guild/corporation.
The Descent - Our goal
The goal of this corporation is not to be the heroic good guys, not to be the starwarsy dark side, but to be in the middle of things. As is obvious, we will have to start out from scratch. Doing this requires us to lay low in the beginning and focus on the mining operations and getting a decent cashflow into the corporation. Later on we will be focusing a lot on PvP and relocate our corporation to our own place in the universe.
Teamwork and cooperation will be two of the post important aspects of the corporation. To accomplish this we plan on using TeamSpeak/Ventrilo (voice over IP program), mIRC (out of game chat) and of course the ingame chat utilities. Mass corporation mails will make sure everyone gets the required information in time to keep this corporation running smoothly. Our website (currently being developed by myself) will play an equally important role in the corporation. It will be the main hub, out of the game, where our members can meet and share their thoughts on our forums. We will be posting lots of news and articles for the new members to read which will give them a boost in their EVE knowledge.
A teaser of the website:
The Descent - In short
For those who have read the entire post this part won't bring much news, but those of you that got tired or reading, here is anenumeration of our most important points.
- New corporation accepting both experienced and new EVE players from Europe and America
- Ran by two leaders, Ambet and Joshua'Raven
- Teamwork and cooperation the two most important factors
- Full arsenal of communication methods to improve on our teamwork
- In the beginning main focus on getting the corporation from the ground
- Later on shifting focus to PvP but maintaining already established industry business
- Most important, have fun, but do so while helping the corporation grow
If, after reading our recruitment post, you are interested in joining our corporation The Descent then feel free to post here, email me at my mail address or contact Ambet or me (Joshua'Raven) ingame. We are always open to talk to anyone who is interested, but we want to get to know you first before we make our decision.
Thank you for your time and I hope we have attracted your attention.
Yours, Joshua'Raven & Ambet

I'd like to clarify one thing a bit. While I have played Eve before it was not with this character, the post made by Joshua might be a bit misleading in this regard. I have restarted from scratch so to speak.
While we can't offer the perks that the already established corporations have we offer new players something else. The chance to play with people with relatively same amounts of skill points. Thus at the same time you can have more impact on the forming of the corporation and you can grow along with it. Ideally we are looking for fresh ambitious people out of the academy and a bit more experienced players up to around 5 million skill points. Of course if you are interested you could have more. Trial players are free to apply as well but we can't really burn much resources on you if by chance you decide the game is not for you. We can however offer you help on gameplay issues and of course an opportunity to be a part of creating something.
New player joining an older corporation with long time players can leave you an outsider, making you feel that you aren't contributing as much as the others even when you are a good player, skill points do make a difference. We feel that our way lets you go around that.
Where we are headed is that we aren't planning on specializing on a single thing but are aiming to be a self-sufficient all arounder, capable of producing our own needs and defending and expanding our territory in the future. For that reason wherever (except the issue following shortly) your interests lay in, we hope to provide you with opportunity to excel in that area.
The Descent does not support piracy, while we are not going to be afraid of pvp and will defend our to-be territories fiercely we like to remain on the neutral grounds with other corporations, instead of accumulating negative attention towards us.
We place no activity restrictions on you but if you are going to be away for more than a week making that known is somewhat mandatory.
Also we want that you bring your main character into the corporation, not just your alt. But you can bring your main character and your alts if you so wish.
And finally we are currently located in Caldari space, Lonetrek region, Torrinos system.
Thank you, Ambet

Here's a lil bump! I joined the descent yesterday and i'll tell you why i did it.
When i watch a movie, i simply like to see this movie from the start. Even a series, like "24" i had to see the season 1 before the rest.
This corp is the same to me. I need see it from the beginning. We are like in the season 1, many thing will happen. I beleive in Ambet and Josh to bring us to the ultimate fun of this game. We need people to join the same dream we have to hang out a lot, work a lot, but isnt the point of playing this game?
Hope to see you in our boat!

Membership count has gone up to 8 in the past two days.
Ambet, Joshua'Raven, Saigon Trenth, tyrantII, Poppa Top, Yx Pliks, Tellatubby, BriskFive.
The management is starting to form quite nicely and we have a good mix of rookie and experienced players right now. Our HQ is situated in the Torrinos system (0.5) next to 0.0 and 0.4 space for future mining operations. The first hangar has also been rented in the same system. The site is coming along just fine and we already have set up our serverspace, ventrilo server and our own IRC channel on quakenet #DescentCorp.
We are still looking for new recruits to join our corporation. Feel free to join us on IRC or use one of the other contact options provided in the opening post. Hope to see you soon!
Yours, Joshua'Raven

Another small update from yours truly.
We (Ambet, Tellatubby and myself) have been very busy the past 4 days and the results are starting to show off. We've upped our total number of members to 17 and we have two more on the way. Ambet currently has all his training time dedicated to the corporation skills to keep up with the join requests we get every day. Right now we have about 5 people living in the pacific timezone. The rest of the people live in, and around Europe.
Yesterday Tellatuby ran our first mining ops and it went absolutely great. The people that joined in got a nice amount of cash handed to them at the end of the ops and some even donated their share to the corporation bank account. Right now we cannot fully utilise the mined resources because of the lack of industrialists in our corporation. If you are such an industrialist then let me tell you that we would really open you with open arms if you decided to join our corporation.
The site is still under construction but the domain www.descentcorp.com has already been reserved by us. For those of you who would like to see some more of the site before deciding to join, you can follow it's construction in the Development zone.
On a final note I would like to thank all members of the corporation who have dedicated their time to help us further. We are really starting to see cooperation between the members and we have a lot of fun in the corporation channel. As Tellatubby yesterday said during the mining ops "These guys are real work horses!". Two thumbs up for you all.
If you have any further questions or would like to join, feel free to contact us!

We where able to get two more Industrialists (David Dryke and Bigyboo) who responded to my last request in this topic. We are, however, still looking for more industrialists to add to our corporation roster. If you are a starting industrialist and don't think you can tribute much because of your low skill then don't worry, we are more then happy to wait patiently while you gain the required skills in our corporation!
The total membercount has gone up to 26 and we are still in the process of talking to a 5mil industrialist who has shown interest in joining our corporation.
Hope we can see some more requests today. Remember, our limit right now is 30 members, so after that, anyone who wants to join will be put on a waiting list until our CEO (Ambet) has finished training his next corporation management skill.

I'm sure we can use your skills one way or another. Send me an EVE-mail ingame (Joshua'Raven) and we can talk about your application.

Veterans are always welcome, and seeing as you are an industrialist I'm sure we'll even reserve a spot for you if you decide to think about it for a day or two

3. Is talking on teamspeak a must?
1. I'm sorry, I don't really understand your question. We take ourselves serious yes, or else we wouldn't introduce ourselves with the openings post we have. You don't have to be my friend, just pretend to be one...
2. You have to be online often enough not to get a warning. We can't really give you an estimate about how often you have to be online. Just play whenever you can and if it turns out that it's not enough we will notify you and we'll try to work something out. But I'm sure you can be online enough.
3. Talking on teamspeak (actually we use Ventrilo) isn't a must, as long as you aren't a ranking officer. Officers often have to lead an ops or have to do something else that requires them to talk to their wing (squadron) on Ventrilo.
