I'm with the OP on this. I lost a Corax costing me around 7 million and I thought it was the end of the world considering I'd only made 5 mill that week. Progressing now to ships costing 100 of millions I don't see how I'd recover without plexing alongside a subscription.
I think one heavy loss like that Ccp would lose another subscription. Id love to see a change of direction making eve more accessible to new players but under no illusion it will happen. Other mmos including sandbox ones made the change to include theme park content. Ccp should really do the same |

I never have understood why people either stay in their starter NPC Corp, or whichever NPC Corp they end up in if they leave a player Corp
As you are in an NPC Corp, there is often a greater chance you will be attacked, as you have no Corp mates who may defend/revenge you
Ive played mmos for years and for the latter part guilds/clans whatever you call them do nothing together and people get nothing from being in such organisation. I maybe unfair to corps in Eve as I've never joined one. Maybe my experience of guilds in other mmos where most content is solo friendly. I hang out in the help chat and see the same faces their everyday, if you check out their corps you see them belonging to corps in single figures. Why are they in corps with low numbers, sometimes being the only member?
How many people join a Corp and become just another number there? Judging by the number of corps some people have in their employment history a lot |

How many people join a Corp and become just another number there? Judging by the number of corps some people have in their employment history a lot Find a corp who is : 1) newbros friendly. 2) populated enough, with some experienced players willing to help. 3) active, especially in your time zone. Why not join us in EVE-University ? You'll get all that and much much more : classes, fleets, events, help, advices, a huge wiki, campuses... you can try all what can be done in EVE (except griefing...) in every kind of environments. Trust me, your vision of corpos will change quickly :)
I do hang out in EVE-uni's chat more often than not :) Picked up some useful information while there and a few peoples names spring to mind for offering advice. I'm a little nervous to try guilds/corps whatever now from past experiences. Going back to the days of playing Dark ages of camelot and suchlike where your reputation and how you treated other players was just as important as how much a skilled player you were. Now unless your a ardent raider or pvper guilds etc have pretty much become redundant in most mmo's now.
But EVE-uni has crossed my mind more and more often. Listening to people there seem to have similar goals to me heh! |

I think he's pointing out things correctly.
To be able to loot what others killed during missions to annoy/bait others is something a decent videogame should not allow, in particular a videogame with so complicated mechanics like Eve.
In my opinion it comes out by how the game is programmed, there are no separate dungeons like many other games.
Simply things like a big warning (telling you that if you attack them they can kill you even if they are thieves) sign coming out when someone else loots mission wrecks would be intelligent, but I'm losing hope about developers intelligence.
Same for stupid Wardec mechanics.
Eve as it is now will always struggle to have new players joining.
The doubt is if at the same time will keep the old/tired/bored players...
Edit:
Another consideration about game developers, for what I've read so far:
- They love and encourage multi- accounting = More paid subscriptions
- They love and encourage wars and in particular the result of X Isk ships destroyed = More paid plexes
Their attitude is similar to the Italian attitude ( and I'm italian ) about tourists.
Milk them the most that you can everytime you can.
Play to milk them, don't listen to what they prefer to make them stay, milk them the most.
If they complain tell them it's a sandbox, even if you are deciding the rules, every single rules of the game, more players to be milked will arrive soon or later...
the only problem is when later more of them don't arrive...
I agree with the points you've raised. Unfortunately players who would like a friendlier environment to play in are a minority. The pvpers in Eve are fiercely protective of the mechanics ingame and frown upon anything that can interfere with it. No one will ever change the course of gameplay in Eve but saying that numbers seem to have dropped off rapidly in the 3 months I've played. Whether that's due to the summer idk
Be interesting to see what happens when titles such as No mans sky and Star citizen are released
