Fresh from GDC: EVE Online multiplayer space game is Macbound.
Awesome news. Please don't let this become a PC vs Mac debate thread either. :)

You can plug in a mouse with a right mouse button and it'll work. Alternately, you can use control-click to get the same behavior with the single button mouse, or just look in the menus for the same thing.
I'd love to see how EVE performs on the new Macs myself. And it doesn't hurt to introduce a whole other market to EVE. :)

Originally by: Victor Valka Also. Even the best of MacBooks doesn't have a dedicated video card; only Intel's 950 - not really the best for gaming. So you might wanna go for MacBook Pro there.
Right now that's not so much of an issue since EVE's heavily CPU-bound. Still, MacBook Pros are really nice. :)
Hopefully the new improved clients coming down the pipe will scale down to accomodate loadouts like the MacBooks with less-than-optimal configurations.

Originally by: Saif Ha'Matari the big question, how will it handle the dx10 gfx engine..
...and if the mac version will have the same features as the windows dx10 version, im gonna buy a mac at some point..
*bsd ftw, need not to say more i do :p
It won't handle it, since DX10 is Vista only (blame MS). That's ok though since it doesn't have to, the DX9 client looks to be amazing by its own right. The stuff they showed at Fanfest last November was with the DX9 engine, and even though we were all hungover from the night before, everyone was suitably amazed.

My MX1000 has 8 buttons 10 if you count tilting the scroll wheel
Yeah, but how many of those do you use on a regular basis? (If you say all 10 you're a freak :) )
I'd be interested in reading a dev blog on the subject, by someone involved in getting the client functioning on OS X. Would love to hear some technical tidbits on what kind of challengs there were and what Mac users can expect from this, if there's any differences between the PC version an Mac version that are notable, etc.

Originally by: Jarjar That's not the point, the point is that the Mac one mouse button myth needs to die.
Besides, it's not like the portables need an external mouse to right-click either.
Oh I know the myth needs to die, I have a Mac (been too lazy to buy a two-button mouse for it too, so control-click is almost second nature now).

Originally by: Merasa Tro The current generation of Macs all come with a multi-button mouse in the box.
It may look like one button, but they've been kind of sneaky to keep the image of one button.
Its actually 2 touch sensitive halfs under the one shell. so you can left or right click. It all so has a little scroll wheel and a squeezy button from each side.
That'd be the Mighty Mouse. The touch sensitive clicking thing is brilliant, but the wheel (actually a small ball instead of a wheel) is horrid. It jams up easily, feels flimsy, and there's no way to clean it. I own one, used it for a few months, then tossed it in favor of a more conventional USB mouse. Wanted to love it though. :)
Of course you can always get a right click action with the control button. Control-clicking on a Mac is the same as a right click (though obviously not as simple).
