My gang setup:
5x heavy missile launcher, 1x nos ----- 5x jammer, 1x sensorbooster, 1x eccm gravimetric backup ----- 2x signal distortion amp
With all the dampening going on nowadays a sensorbooster is a good thing to have - and the backup array is in case i meet another ECM ship - and esp. privateers seem to like them.
I feel like a templar, an Amarr fighter drone, used by carriers. |

Usually, hostiles will start within 20-30km from you and won't wait for you to came back at 230km...
but surely if your in gang for a fleet op , then you choose a gang mate who you know is gonna be close to the enemy , as you say around 20-30k . wait till the gang have warped in then warp in to that gang mate at 100k.
chances are the enemy will have there hands full, im not saying they wont notice you but it will help
Bigger chances are that you will miss the fight entirely or perhaps land in dictor bubble And even bigger chances are that there will be no fight at all, but that are just details.

If the fight is over within 10-20 seconds the rook wouldn't had and real effect to it in either case.

How long does it take for fleet fight to become 1 sided cleaning up? I'd say 10-20s, depending on lag. In that time, your precious rook has to warp to "stationary fleet" and warping in later is usually bad if your FC decides to get out. If you intend to hold battlefield, then rook doesn't make difference
Other are ganks
All this positioning of ships is pretty much fairy tale and rooks actually made sense when ships could actually hit other ships. -------- ..... |

It is very usefull in : - stationary situations like defending gates when you sit at 150km and so extend the life of tacklers - small gang warfare when you have the element of surprise or the enemy's intel sucks.
I don't like going in close combat with it or sticking around after the enemy knows my ship type. If it's not called primary the first time, it surely gets the other times.
It's very dangerous to jump through camped gates. It's better to uncloak last in this case.
