Just curious if they have any more importance then regular missions taken from any other agent?
I am new to the game, so some NCP sent me to one of such Agents and now they are sending me from one to another in circles, giving almost identical delivery missions.
I was hoping I will get some great raward at some point, but now I have my doubts about it |

Event/Storyline agents will offer you missions from time to time when you complete certain requirements, or you may be referred to them by a regular agent. The missions themselves are pretty similar to the standard missions, but the rewards for success are much greater.
Storyline missions for example, are offered when you complete 16 regular missions of a given level. If you complete them, you get a boost to your Faction Standing, as well as (usually) more valuable rewards like implants or very large chunks of ISK.
As for your situation, are you sure they're actually Event or Storyline agents? Sounds like you're getting standard courier missions.

Edited by: Obukh Toporoff on 10/03/2007 21:55:36 Yes, I am sure they are marked as Event. You probably can check one of them: Evika Deng. And the missions they give are marked in Journal as Storyline. However they are just regular delivery missions.
And after you complete the mission, they say something like: "don't forget to talk to XXX - he has job for you". This XXX is alwayd located at the destination base and also marked as Event (instead of level).
I have 7 agents like this on my list. And they just keep sending me from one to another giving same missions.
However once I got "important mission" from one of them and got some skill book and a weapon as a reward.
P.S. I didn't play since Nov. 2005, and back then it was as you said. I think they may have changed something.

Just going up and talking to an event agent sets you on a neverending tour around carting stuff to a bunch of stations for minimal profit.

That's what I wanted to know. I was hoping that at some point they will start giving you more difficult missions. If not, then I don't understand why they did it this way. What's the idea behind sending you from one agent to another? To confuse everyone?

I was curious so I did a story line courier event agent mission. After I did x numbers of repeating missions, I got "diplomacy skill book". These missions are nice to the new players who want to try courier missions, but 30K isk per run is not much of a reward.

They added new rookie missions for each of the starting schools in the last patch which was what the last poster was doing. The op was on the standard courier events that have been in the game for ages, it's just a circular track of missions that give you an introduction to the various systems in a factions territory. Some of them give a faction standing increase but these are one shot only the rest of them are simply corp standing increase and can be done over and over.
Event agents are not storyline agents (in that there is no 16 mission requirement) but they'll usually do raise faction standing only by a small ammount though. I'd recomend finding a school and talking to the event agent staioned there, if it's the "endless battle" mission go and find another school thats not the right one (he is listed as a tutorial agent anyway so it's easy to tell which is which).

Umm...the storyline missions are only given after you complete 16 missions from the same agent. Running around to different agents does not yield this reward (however, if you do 8 missions from Agent A, then 16 from Agent B, you only need to do 8 missions more to get the storyline mission from Agent A).
If you don't get the "storyline" missions, you aren't going to get the good loot. You may have gotten unlucky on a few occasions with that diplomacy skill book, but I regularly got +2 implants early on, and I now get +3 implants. I believe it has to do with the lvl missions you completed to get the storyline missions (i.e. 16 lvl III missions gets you a +3 implant or better, but 16 lvl I missions might only get you that skill book).

wrong.
its per Faction and Level. I do 15 missions for a lvl 3 gallente agent, then go do another mission for a Different lvl 3 gallente agent, I get storyline from the storyline agent closest to that 2nd agent.

Event Agents, at least the one that provides the Salvage Drone Operation skillbook. Didn't require anything but standing with the faction already, although he did reject me the first time I talked to him.
I cannot say without a shadow of a doubt, but I believe the Event Agents to be the Agents that have use the 120 new missions that were added in 1.4.1 because the skillbook in question wasn't around before 1.4.1 to my knowlege.
