Not looking for an RP reason. Just trying to understand the game balance reason.
Does using an MWD in Deadspace really make them easy mode or something? Not really seeing it but that isn't saying much.
Some ships rely on an MWD to be effective (e.g. Blasterthron or ceptor). Is there any real reason behind it or is it just cuz?

something about being able to sail through them i think, that and the fact they make ships that arn't ravens viable which we can't be having!!! -------------------------------------

I always thought it was so ships couldn't go through the rooms without using the acceleration gates. This way, especially in non-mission complexes, you actually have to wait for the overseer and his key, instead of just hitting the MWD and reaching the next room in 10 minutes or so.

Wow...I never considered just driving from one room to the next. Cool idea....sure the distances are close enough to make it even remotely reasonable?

Well back when 10/10 complexes first came out we could easily finish them with 3-4 battlecruisers and 1 frigate with a mwd. Go in, frigate gets everything aggressed, then orbits the overseer at 50km or so taking absolutely no damage.
Not to mention the BC's (also with mwd's) could slow boat the 10,000km to the last stage, bypassing the acceleration gates altogether.
Well, actually the BC's were fitted with 100mn AB's, but the idea is the same. Too much speed in deadspaces makes them far too easy.
Anyone remember?

Just 10,000km isn't it? Not a problem in a most ships, my Sabre can cross that in a very short space of time. ---

Yeah, a good nanoship could do that in about 20 minutes or less.

The devs have stated that they want more 'tactical' environments. Deadspace and its non-MWD is one of those.
There's an entire blog/thread on this.
Also, they space the gates and use Deadspace to prevent people from speeding through missions.

It's funny how the only 'tactical' environment in the game is an area which is usually traversed solo anyway, and which nerfs blasterboats... -
If you go into your options menu, there's a difficulty slider. Put that all the way over to the easiest setting and you'll be fine. |

Yeah, never liked the fact that an entire module is prevented from running. Couldn't they have just lowered the speed boost, or increased the cap usage/sig boost or something?
