So I'm in the process of putting together a small POS. It will be in a lowsec, relatively quiet system. Appreciating I can't make it a death star and I will lose it to a determined attack, could someone offer a few pearls of wisdom on how to at least make it defend itself a bit in the event someone starts pew pew'ing it ?

Pick guns that use no CPU.. otherwise they will stop working in reinforced mode.

One webber, one warp disruptor, and as many rails and blasters that you can fit (use a 1/2 and 1/2 or 2/3 to 1/3 rails/blasters... both with Antimatter. At this point, it'll be more trouble than it's worth.

I've been looking at a small POS too.
Artillery seems to me like the best POS guns, even on a non-minmatar POS. Purely for the Alpha.
If your POS won't survive a determined attack, then simply having guns that pilots don't want to go near out of fear of a wrecking hit one-shotting them, seems like the best way to keep casual vandals away.
My understanding is that the silo bonus on Gallente towers is bugged too.
Is this wrong thinking?

Well if you don't need the POS to do anything else, you can try
Minmatar Control Tower Small
4x Medium Artillery Battery
2x Small Autocannon Battery
Stasis Webification Battery
Warp Scrambling Battery
Phase Inversion Battery
Spatial Destabilization Battery
Sensor Dampening Battery
That's enough firepower and EW annoyance to make random gankers want to seek an easier target. I dislike pure blaster/rail Gallente setups as they're just too easy to tank with their limited dmg types.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I've gone for the semi random assortment of guns as suggested and will vary the ammo as much as possible and see how I get on!
