Problem / Reaction / Solution
Problem
Miners ganked in High Sec
Reaction
Use WH , Low Sec and Null Sec tactics for mining with in High Sec
Solution
A mid slot module to deploy a mini Warp Stabilizer / Sheild bubble
If this idea was considered this deployable bubble module could be implemented with limited use like can only be used once and maybe count down timer for how long its active and its cost to make it and buy it
also the reason for chosing this to be a mid slot module rather then a deployable one is to add balance for its use against gankers and that it should be restricted for use only with mining barges & exhumers and hence the reason why its a mid slot fit rather then high slot and when timer is to zero the module becomes unuseable and to remove it would be the same as removing a rig
also its sheild resistance could also be limited only being able to take a couple of shots just to give the miner barely enough time to warp to safety and a fair chance for the miner to be ganked as well
it's idea anyway

Umm, yeah, when we are ganking you we can't warp away even if we want to as that is one of the consequences of choosing to gank someone and is a hardcoded mechanic, so what exactly does this accomplish?
Please people at least try to understand the mechanics before you propose changes.

You can already get a warp core stabilizer, it uses a low slot. |

I would like to make a counter-proposal: a module that's automatically fitted to a mining ship and explodes instantly upon undocking. This would also solve the ganking issue. |

Your knowledge of mining 'tactics' is sadly lacking.
Wormhole Mining Tactics - Ore: Use cheap barges rather than T2 exhumers, fit for some decent tank, accept you'll lose one every now and again. Gas: Warp to the cloud at zero, drop a jetcan, orbit that jetcan at 500m and huff away. You'll be *inside* the cloud and a stealth bomber or similar will get decloaked by the cloud before they can get close enough to scram you. Accept that you will lose a Venture every now and then. Both: Mash D-Scan like a loon and run away at the first sign of something nasty coming at you.
0.0 Mining Tactics- Ore: Have eyes in neighbouring systems and monitoring the major pipes in your region. Keep an eye on Local, be prepared to run for a safe POS at the first hint of trouble. Gas: Tank for the gas explosions, orbit close and huff. Both: Mash D-Scan like a loon and run away at the first sign of something nasty coming at you.
Lowsec: Ore: Don't do it. Gas: Only bother with Cytoserocin clouds. See 0.0 and WH gas tips above.
Highsec: Ore: Fit for max yield, go AFK, pay zero attention to what's going on around you, cry rivers of delicious tears on forums when the inevitable happens.
Seriously mate, use the tools you already have. If nothing else, fly a properly tanked Skiff or Procurer. When my highsec static rolls into a 0.5 system full of Mackinaw and Hulks, I dig out the Catalysts and maek pretty asplosions.
When I see nowt but Skiffs or Procurers on D-Scan, I get on with my usual hauling and WH logistical crap.

Some miners fit Higgs anchors (lowers max velocity considerable) and stay aligned at 75% to their POS or station at all time. Catalysts lands on grid? --> gtfogtfogtfogtfogtfogtfogtfo *warps* phew.
Protip: did you know you can put DScan at 1AU radius and be in warp before the nasties land?? |

What fun is that? Don't you get that the problem is not themsleves, but the rest of the physical universe, therefore changes should be made to accomodate them!
(F your sarcasms meter if it just exploded lol)
And a high sec bubble? No WAY that could be abused, or even used by gankers to make the situation worse. You have to wonder about these 'great ideas' people, like how can they not figure out that their idea is stupid, when it takes the rest of us 0.4 seconds to figure out that their idea is stupid... |

How about a module that makes you 100% immune to target locks for as long as you want to run it - but prevents you from locking other players or warping.
As soon as you shut off the module, your ship self destructs.
Now you are 100% immune to gankers (unless they hate you enough to field a smartbomb bs) - but limited to mining out only a single belt per mining ship (the gank is built in).
You would of course also have to use a different ship to get your ore out of the belt...and you would still be vulnerable to bumpers.
Could be used as a last-ditch anti-ganking emergency measure, to spoil their killmail and buy yourself some extra time to kiss your ship goodbye...but only if you were at the keyboard paying attention at the time of the gank (which seems to be the primary stated concern of most miner gankers these days).
(no this isn't really a serious idea Just random ) |
