OK, trying to get some info what exactly decides how many research points per day the agent can generate... (so it can be hopefully improved)
Seems like the results can be vastly different: ~20-100 points per day from agents of the same level. o.O
If you can, post your results and whatever you think might be important (research type, both your and agent's race, agent's quality, attributes, skill levels, standings, whatever) Would be nice if the devs could shed some lights here, but not really expecting that to happen. ;s
will update the post with some actual data once i get back from work. ^^;

I get 89.25 rps a day.
My agent is lvl3 with lvl3 skill in my research field (caldari starship eng.)
My skill is lvl3 atm.
At lvl1 I made around 49 rps a day.
At lvl2 I made 89.25 rps a day.
Lvl3 brought no improvement.
My standing with the agent are 5 and he's quality is 14.
Doing one mission gave me around 80rps at once.
We are both caldari. ______

I think that you have to restart your research after you complete training a new level before you will get the RP/day increase.

As I already wrote I didn't have to do that before, when jumping from lvl1 to lvl2 skill, it was updated automatically. I'll check it again this evening, I hope that status will be upadated. Otherwise I'll ask some of game masters in the help chat for an explenations before gping for lvl4 of that skill (5 days:) ______

Equation as follows:
(1 + (Effective Agent Quality / 100) ) * ( (Your Skill Level + Agent's Skill Level)^2)
In other words: The square of your combined skill levels times the percentage the agent's quality is.
Thank you :)

Edited by: Albar Gray on 19/12/2003 12:44:28 Edited by: Albar Gray on 19/12/2003 12:44:09 Nightfang, if that's right then how do I get 59.04 per day?
(1+(23/100)) * ((2 + 2)^2) (1.23) * (4^2)
This would equal 19.68
If only i could get some more data and borrow Jarulf from the Diablo 2 forums we could get this sorted ----------------------------------------------- IÆm not schizophrenic... ThatÆs my alt

Mhmm still stuck at work, but --given i get ~20 points per day from my high quality lvl.2 agent-- would dare a guess personal/corporate standings play a really big role here... as my current standings towards both the agent and the corporation are nearly non-existent, standings at ~3.5 are associated with ~60 points and standings of ~5 with nearly 90 points. Will be easy to verify that as am working on improving the corporate standing (although no idea how i'll be able to improve personal standing with the agent, or if it's even possible)
Either that, or it's the Intelligence/Memory attributes of the character playing some part here... sadly i have them really really low ;.;

Well, tell that to Papa Smurf, because that is the quoted equation. And it is correct according to my research agent.
Skill level of agent: 3 Skill level of me: 2 Effective agent quality: -3
0,97 * (5^2) = 24.25
Lo and behold: Research per day: 24.25
Considering what Papa Smurf said I'd say you're agents are bugged. Consider yourself lucky!

"Well, tell that to Papa Smurf, because that is the quoted equation. And it is correct according to my research agent."
That equation seems quite accurate for the agent i have, too... thank you for sharing it, Mr.Nightfang. ^^
"Considering what Papa Smurf said I'd say you're agents are bugged. Consider yourself lucky!"
... Pretty likely, that. And if that's the case... gee, guess 'tis fortunate such lil' problem came out 2 days after the patch deployment and not say, after couple of BP give-aways... --;;;

Doesnt work for me either - thaat equation gives me a 30.75 result whereas im actually on about 65.
I think i know why though - theres a UI bug which doesnt display/update the figures for various standings correctly (in my case sec status and faction dont update)... due to that i dont think the "effective quality! is showing correctly either....
certainly Im positive given my current correct (but invisible) standings that my modifier from actual to effective quality is more than +2..
Thus - j0 - i think any date gathered in this fashion atm is going to be very suspect until these UI bugs are resolved and what is shown on our char screens is coorect.

... It might be not that simple, am afraid -- if the formula is indeed correct then even something as drastic as "effective quality" of 100 would result in just 100% boost to research points... not 3+ times increase we are seeing in some cases. A much more modest --and likely-- difference of 5-10 points in effective quality results in increase by ~1 research point, not the amounts reported o.o;;;

Edited by: Rinji on 19/12/2003 14:59:29 But... that formula does not take into account the agent's level (as in level 3 agent, not level of research skill), unless I am reading it wrong. Perhaps there is a missing multiplier somewhere? Could explain the 1/3 of expected result...
EDIT: Then again, the agent's level is built into his research skills, more or less, so I guess that is already being accounted for.

I don't think it's Intell or Mem though I could be wrong. Don't feel bad my lvl 1 researcher gets me 7.65 RP every day. Phear my 1337 science skillz.

... Oh; makes sense, sort of. (would think Rocket Science applies for some kind of Caldari bonus as well, given it's supposedly Caldari speciality and all... but apparently no such luck)
What are you researching, btw? Or any more general idea on those race specific bonuses? ;)

(This was after the R&D project was started)
But if i'm competeing with other Amarrians using Amarrian agents, the multiplier won't mean a lot
And on another point, thanks j0sephine for all the posts about the R&D and other agent missions on the patch review forum.

*I'm so confused*
You guys are talking about specialty science skills that I have never seen -- I'm guessing they come from agents -- fine, but how do you get there to start with!? I've been browsing this forum forever looking for a step-by-step "get a research agent" sort of thread, but there's naught.
Could someone please please tell a n00b how to get started at least, other than doing missions for my bugged & reset n00b agent?
