First, I recite some of the patch notes.
Quote: # All missions are now declinable and quittable. # Ignoring the missions your agent offers you will now result in a standing loss, as will declining or quitting them. Agent NPC kill missions are now usually dished out only by agents in military type of corporations, especially the hard ones. Players who wish to avoid the mundane courier or mining missions are encouraged to build up a network of agents in military corporations to satisfy their barbaric desire for combat. Please do not confuse "corporation type" with the division the agent is in.
I am doing L3 agent missions for Duvolle labs. LABS damnit. Not only LABS, but i am doing missions for a PRODUCTION agent - lets make that very clear - PRODUCTION agent.
I cannot fly cruisers, so I can't do combat. 3 guesses why I picked production - first two dont count.
I keep getting kill missions from my PRODUCTION agent (NOT to be confused with INTERNAL SECURITY) and i have to refuse them because I cannot do them. I have had to refuse a good 10% of my missions because they are kill missions that I cannot do.
The last kill mission refusal right before DT absolutely destroyed my faction and corp standing. I had a faction standing of 1.16 for gallente, now its .91 or so. I have no way whatsoever of making that up because agent mission sucesses do not affect my faction standing anymore. My corp standing for duv labs was 3.4, but now its 2.4 because I refused to do a kill mission.
What the hell? This is not a credible way of doing things from a RP or practical perspective. I do NOT want kill missions so I refuse them, and get beaten up in standings.
WTF?

OH by the way - my current research agent has a required standing of 2.75 and i was knocked below that by this craptacular bug.
I have 150 RP, did i just lose them?

Edited by: Amin on 19/12/2003 11:35:13 Hmm, i actaully understand your point, if the devs want people to specilize with everyone not being able to do anything then combat missions shouldn't really be given out by Non-combat related divisions.
If we assume that the devs have thought about this then the kill mission may be easy frigate rats, it might not be too hard taking them on.
Have u tried waiting for the missions to expire, rather than refusing them. Then again some missions take forever to expire.
By the sounds of its not an actual bug in the missions more about how they have setup agent missions.

Read the quoted part. Once I click on the agent I am committed one way or another.

No your not, when the mission screen comes up, neither accept or decline. Just press abort or the "x" that the top of the window. Then open your journal an make sure the mission is still "offered" and not "accepted". This way u can not do missions without taking a sec hit. However the down side is that u may have to wait a while before your agent offers another one.

CHUMSICLE - youre NOT doing missions for a PRODUCTION agent.
The divisional aspects of corporation agent is not in until SHiva. The current breakdown into divisions is therefore just a nice way to split up the agents but doesnt actually mean squat (yet).
You will get the same range and types of missions choosing either accounts or internal security.
Thus the only breakdown by "role" is at the corporation level - Caldari Navy (for instance) will give (does give) far higher nubmers of combat missions as opposed to, say, Lai Dai... however that does not mean Lai Dai wont have any combat missioons, just far fewer on average.

Amin - so the patch notes are wrong? It actually appears so, I haven't taken hits for a few missions from other agents that timed out. Ugh.
Morkt - patch notes lie again. Thanks :/

Well, someone in the trade channel already suggested you could simply hire a fighter pilot for the mission. If you refuse to consider that option, your bad.

These are level 3 missions we're talking about here. they should be the hardest available.
Although, tbh, it scared the **** out of me when I went to clear an empire gate of some 'annoyances', and found myself facing 2 caracals and a frigate. My thorax armor supplier is never going to forgive me for that.
And to the best of my knowledge, just closing the window will allow the mission to timeout. Whether you get a hit or not for the timeout, I don't know.
btw. two lvl 3 agents at the same station ROCKS. .

Yeah, federation navy should suit you down to the ground.
I used navy agents for some testing on chaos, and out of 5 missions, 3 were kill missions. .

Unless they've changed it again in the last day or so, you take a pretty substantial hit from allowing it to time out, as well as a nasty letter from the agent that offered the mission.
Preventing 'Cherry Picking' I believe Papa Smurf called it. Understandable, but do you lose less standing refusing a mission than by letting it time out? Haven't refused any missions yet to do comparisons.

The missions currently do not take divisions into account, except R&D = research agents and anything else = non research agent. The missions take the corporation type into account however. This will be changed later, but there simply wasn't enough time to fix this up since the divisions weren't implented until just before the patch.

is Kruul supposed to be a lvl 2 mission?
I'd hate to see someone in a frigate try to take him on after getting that mission...

Ugh.
Zrakor - I had 3.44 standing and it dropped to 2.4ish. Isnt that excessive AND incorrect? It said in the transaction log that it was a -7% hit, not a -30% hit....
