Hello Capsuleers
I'm please to announce that Thunderdome is official opening it's doors!
If you're in one of the alliances listed below, and your captain included you on their list of pilots, you will be able to login to Thunderdome using the same username and password (as of today) as you use for the account the character they supplied is on. If they supplied the names of multiple characters on the same account, you'll still only have one account.

To the captains of the other teams, I recommend that you get your lists in as soon as you can. Make sure you check the email listed on the account your captain character is on, as instructions on how to get your team on the server are there.
A few notes though since the email:
- Characters you nominate must be in your team's alliance. They don't have to be eligible to participate (so yes, you can stick brand new alts in there) but they do have to be in there.
- Steam and Nexon accounts are currently not able to access Thunderdome. Steam accounts can work around this by picking a username to attach to their account in account management. I'm working to come up with a solution to Nexon accounts, but no guarantee I can find one.
- Updates to active accounts from this point will generally happen twice a week, once on Tuesday and once on Friday. This does not include removal of accounts, which will generally be processed as soon as I read your mail.
- Some captains have supplied lists with incorrect character names. Keep in mind that the character names you give must match their name in-game. I'll be reaching out to try to correct these, but it will be quicker if you go over your list and make sure the names are correct.
So, now you ask, how do I get on Thunderdome? At the moment, the process is the following:
- Start up the EVE Launcher, click the E in the top right hand corner and hit settings. Switch the version over to Development, then close the launcher.
- Start the EVE Launcher again using the argument "-x=thunderdome". You can do this either by making a new shortcut pointing to the launcher, or by starting the launcher from the command line.
- Once the launcher has started up, click the E in the top right corner and select "Server List". You should now see Thunderdome listed as an option.
- Once it's finished patching and it's status is ready, hit "Play on Thunderdome".
- Login with your regular account details
You're on, so now what?
A few rules first.
- Only your accounts have been transferred over to Thunderdome. You'll have to create new characters
- You are not required to name your characters, corporations and alliances the same name you have on Tranquility.
- You may not attempt to impersonate someone else's character, corporation or alliance.
- The market is not seeded. Instead, all characters can create items using a slash command: /giveitem [type] [quantity], where type is either the type ID or type name (make sure you use quotes if it's the name). You can create stacks of up to 50,000 items at once. (Yes, I am planning to allow you to spawn multiple items at once in the future, but that's not on the server right now)
- Only published items (other than structures and super-captial ships) can be created with the above command. In addition, you can create the unpublished type "Tournament Practice Unit".
- You are able to cloak your ship at any time using the /shipcloak and uncloak it using the /shipuncloak commands. That includes when you're close to objects and being targeted.
- Non-consensual combat is prohibited. If you do get attacked, I recommend that you just use /shipcloak and moonwalk out (just watch out for smartbombs)
- The moveme bot is active if you get lost (this becomes more important later when the tournament tool is turned on).
At present, the tournament tool is not yet available. I'm writing up a guide on how to use it, and I haven't yet handed out the spectator ships and roles. For now, you should feel free to start skilling up your characters (spawning Skill Injectors is handy for this, but keep in mind you can inject a stack of 10,000 at most at once) and filling out your hanger.
If you find a bug, or something goes wrong, please do not file a bug report. All issues should instead be filed as a ticket in the community team queue, or passed on to your team captain and emailed to me directly.
For now, feel free to jump on the server and start practicing using the Tournament Practice Units to hide your activity.

It should also be noted that when you try to copy your profiles from other servers to Thunderdome, the Launcher app crashes. But when you relaunch it, it creates a folder for your "copied" profile without any actual copied settings. |

Played around a bit with thunderdome.
Some things:
Neither character nor account (!) settings are transferred. Among other things this means wrecked shortcuts. Have to manually feed it proper core_user and core_character files
No market. Means getting anything, including skillbooks, requires /giveitem. You need about 250 skillbooks. I had a skill list which I turned into a skillbook list which I turned into a /giveitem "skillbook" 1 list and manually copy-pasted it into chat 5 lines at a time (otherwise you risk hitting max character limit). This gave me cancer. Fitting ships will probably give me ebola.
Mass-injecting acquired skillbooks is impossible. Because if even one skill is already injected, whole injection job fails. So have to do it in batches and clean up excessive skillbooks.
Inserting a whole skill plan (around 1000 skill levels total) is impossible - you get 50 max skills in queue. Thankfully you can insert the whole plan, train 50 skills, then insert the same plan again and repeat it until you've trained everything. Well, actually until no more skills get inserted. In reality some skills (probably starter?) don't get properly trained, and anything that depends on them either. So have to manually cleanup leftover skills (usually meaning manually training the first skill in a dependency chain and then injecting the plan again).
Overall it took me about an hour to train the newly created character. I think we need a better way to deal with skills.
I think we also need some way to seed the market, because that fitting ebola thing. |

I've just written a new command that will stick all published skills in your head at level 0, with an option to instead make them level 5. I'm also looking at allowing you to provide a comma separated list for spawning multiple items at once, but I haven't started on that one yet.
Hopefully those two will make things much easier.

I've mentioned previously in other places my reasoning for this, but I'll put it here so it's a little more permanent.
I want to have a little state data commonality with Tranquility to minimize data leakage, and to give all event organizers as clean of a slate to work from. There is a lot of extra data that comes from Tranquility that we don't really need.
While we don't need to mirror to seed the markets, teams in the past have used market data to infer what they're opponents are up to. Allowing you to magic items into existence means they can't do that.

A new command, /giveallskills has been added. Using it will inject your character with all skills at level 0. Alternatively, you can use /giveallskills super to give your character all skills at level 5.
Additionally, the /giveitem command will now accept a comma separated list of types (either names or IDs, or a mix) surrounded by quotes to spawn multiple types at once. e.g. /giveitem "Raven, Megathron, Tempest, Apocalypse" 200

Clearly you don't understand the absolute pain in the ass that spawning multiple thousand different item types, many of them with horribly obscure names, to fit a complete set of teams is. The multifit tool is amazing for fitting sets of tournament setups and the easiest way to use it by far is to just buy the stuff off the market.
Of course the teams could individually code some sort of program to automatically give you the item ID's and quantities for a particular setup in a list to paste it into the spawn command but it really just seems far more logical to allow the captains to use the seed command. |

Bouncing off of what Destoya has said, spawning these thousands of items is very time consuming.
I suppose the work is mostly front loaded. Once a comp is fully spawned and fitted it has the added bonus not being tracked via the market. But I will admit this is frustratingly long work. |

Hopefully I'll be able to clean up any of the code horrors on the back-end and get this properly tested over the next few days before deploying it to Thunderdome. Any chance we could get the tournament practice unit to create the micro jump units and warpin bookmarks in all the right places around where you deploy the unit? I may be asking for a lot but man that'd be pretty awesome and time saving. It'd be nice to make a legit tournament cube with the items and bookmarks. It would save time as we currently have to make them manually. |

I followed the steps to create a shortcut to thunderdome. Development launcher, -x=thunderdome switch, etc.
However when I try logging in, I get error:
"Unable to validate the authentication token provided by the launcher. This can be caused by excessive system load. Please try again after one minute or contact EVE customer support."
Help?

I get that the privacy of your enemy not seeing what you buy is a good thing.
It's really convenient though to just link someone a fitting and tell him "get this" and he hits "buy all" "make active" "fit ship" and they're done.
If someone is writing a command that creates every module in the game like 10 times and every kind of ammo like 5000 times it would be really convenient for everyone else if that could be shared.
Or, if those are too many items, just make multiple (a handful) commands to create them.
If you don't want us to do that because creating thousands of items at once might crash the server tell us now though. Otherwise I'm either writing those or writing a few lines to convert fittings into a command to create them. (I'd prefer the first though, it's less work for sharing it around). |

Couple of requests for commands (please, don't lose sleep over these!) - I have no idea how hard/impossible these would be, and quite possibly technically ridiculous but worth asking!
* Command to give ability to lock 20 ships. From a selfish pov, so i can lock all ships and stream. But also useful for dudes in the team who are waiting their turn to fight who can easily cloak and watch all the action, much added content value, great for people recording their own practices.
* Ability to allow implants for multiple slots, i.e. one PG and one CPU 3% at the same time. This one might be far fetched but would save a lot of effort having to switch them. Maybe by extension a command like /add all mind links then you quickly rip out the ones you don't need. |

You are probably trying to login directly through the launcher, instead you need to go via the server list as per the instructions

For those having hard time spawning items (implants and weird named stuff), drag and drop works with " /giveitem" command.
Simply open market, find the item you need
type /giveitem "
drag the item you want to the chat window and finish with: " number of items
leave all the spaces dragging item creates and hit enter
so normally the command is (example):
/giveitem "Large shield extender II" 1
with drag and drop it will look like:
/giveitem " Large Shield Extender II " 1 |

Are you logging in from inside the game client itself? It won't work otherwise. Also, you are likely to only have the account that this character is on (unless you know for sure that your team captain provided names for both.)

If you're referring to some systems missing the team beacons, this is now by design. We now just teleport you to points in space where the beacons normally would be, so we no longer need the team beacons.

I'm pretty sure it isn't. However, the tournament tool picks a random nebula when you create a match that is activated when you turn on the camera tool if you feel like mixing it up. (The Nebula is consistent across all camera clients for any given match)

I'd just like to say a huge thank you to Mr Logibro, Thunderdome has provided all teams with the best practice environment we've ever had and the tournament tool is utterly amazing. We were amazed at the fantastic functionality that the tournament tool provides, after a short read of your guide we were zooming around boundary violating to our hearts content.
I can't imagine how many hours of work have gone into getting this all in place but on behalf of NC. I'd like to thank you, not only for your effort in getting this working but also for your support and help in getting everyone onto the server and explaining everything.

Fancy UI is only available for the guys with "privileged" accounts as far as I know.
Also, if you have access to the referee / camera tool, you can just teleport to the same system yourself before the referee presses "start match" and then do all the fancy camera stuff

Since Yesterday Me and a couple of my Teammates including my Team Captain have a bug where we cant log in to TD.
In the Server List a "Checking..." Message is displayed at the TD entries instead of a Number. also the TD entry is duplicated.
The Error is still there after the download of todays TD patch.
here is a link to a Screenshot I made of my Server List. ( I redacted the Numbers of the TQ, SiSi and Duality entries in case they are security sensitive)

I had this issue also, this is the solution I got from Logibro that seems to work:
"As for the double entries, thatGÇÖs due to no longer needing the -x=thunderdome argument when starting the launcher. You should be able to just start the development version, then click settings -> test servers and tick Thunderdome to see it from now on."

Should be fixed now, you must not have had a character created when the script was run to grant the skills. (We have to grant the skills directly as you can't train Polaris normally due to it's "unique" skill requirements)

I have the same problem on this character. My captain made a typo (posted higher on this page) and sent you a correction, but it haven't been fixed yet. Could you please correct this? I've already missed 2 weeks of practice, don't want to miss the third too. |

We are having problems with random accounts losing access to thunderdome.
So far one of our team members can't log in today (incorrect name/password) even though he was playing yesterday.
Personally one of my four accounts also lost access, other 3 are doing fine.

We had a small snaffu with the account export script mangling account details. We fixed that, so anyone having password issues where they know they're correct before should be fine.

There's also been some reports of module lag on the server. I'll be taking a bit of a deeper dive into that tomorrow, but for now if you could post timestamps from when it occurs in this thread that would be a huge amount of help.

There's a general issue with lag spikes during past several days. Not just modules. At least during euro prime. Look around 19:00-19:30 ET yesterday for example. Specifically closer to 19:10. |

Both of them still show as having access.
As for the lag issues, operations made a change this morning that should have fixed what we suspect was the cause of the lag spikes. It should be solved now, but please let me know if you have any further issues.

Have him try to launch from the server list. I tell my team to do this to avoid the bugs.

Our team is also having issue with this. The serverlist sidestep is not helping.

separate issue every time I copy profiles with manager the launcher crashes, but still does it's job
looked at everything on my end build numbers etc. all good
only thing I didn't try was reinstalling launcher
sisi was working for me last time I tried

I spent about 2 hours setting up my skills on it, gave all skills at 0 and then gave items for skill injectors and applied them and then manually applied SP to each skill. And then setup my skill queue the same as TQ so that TD can update at the same time |

For those teams that have already sent in their mails requesting access to Thunderdome, you should now have access. If you have some members unable to access the server, please double check the names you sent me and then send me another mail.
Please note that the skills to fly the Spectator Yachts have not been handed out yet (they require you to have created characters before they can be given). I'm hoping to have a better solution around next week, but for now as long as you have your character created before Monday you should get the skills on Monday.

It will also tell you how to give yourself level 5 in all skills and contains a link to the Thunderdome guide document. |

It has come to my attention that some players may be attempting to scrape killmails from other teams by brute forcing the URIs for those killmails.
This is not permitted, and we can very clearly attempts to do so in the server logs. Any players found doing so may be banned from Thunderdome and the tournament, and we may consider action against teams if we deem it necessary.

I had Thunderdome access a few days ago, but it now won't let me log in. (I keep getting the invalid username/password message).
What can I do to get this issue resolved? I've already missed a few practices because of it. |
