ok so i may be a bit of a tree hugging hippy emotionally inclined to loving the enviroment and the beuty of nature, i knew of global warming of the consequences of our actions though i had never seen scientific fact to back this. An Inconvenient Truth is a documentary narrated by Al Gore, discusses in detail how WE, the human race, are killing this planet. Please everyone who reads this, buy the DVD or even download it as a torrent. If you dont feel emotionally, ethically and morally inclined to make an individual stance in taking action against CO2 emmissions, then you dont deserve to live on this beutiful and unique world that gives us life. Please spread the word on this tell everyone you know spam eve tell your family friends thier friends people in the street strangers even, OUR EYES AS A SPECIES HAVE BEEN CLOSED FOR TOO LONG! I have always thought an individual cant make a difference, though the reality of it is YOU can. My proposal is a harsh though nescasary and its a boycott on energy consumption that YOU can have an impact on, follow the steps on www.climatecrisis.net to reduce your CO2 emmissions. Also, heres the nasty part, reduce your computer use by 50% = less eve. Read a book, go for a walk, just dont consume energy that you take for granted. Ok you get my point and if you dont then you should be shot on sight im turning my pc off after this post and not turning it on until after work tommorow SAVE YOURSELF, SAVE THE PLANET, hug a tree, frack, plant a tree. The next war waged should not be a war on terrorism, it should be a war on CO2! And to CCP, take the lead in this by having extra alloacted downtimes, perhaps 2 per day or and extended downtime, is money more important to you then your life? Perhaps a full 24 hour dt oncve a month where not only eve is down though all your servers, pc's at CCP HQ and other locations have a 0% CO2 emmission level. the rev has spoken!

Line spacing is your friend. Summary:
There is apparently some event aimed at reducing CO2 emisions, which focusses on home users cutting their use of electricity in half.
Aparently the OP wants, on a given day at least, i wasn't sure about the time period, to have all EVE players to cut their gaming time in half and shut down their computer for the remainder of their normal gaming session.
A noble goal, but somehow i doubt it will work with addicted and semi addicted gamers. This environmentalist group would do better to focus on ways to make high grade PC's consume less power than expect people to shut down their chief and often only form of entertainment.

Al Gore's energy bill is more in one month than most people's are in a year. And that's just one of his houses.
I don't mind the green movement and I'm all for alternative fuels. I just wish some of these people preaching it would lead by example for a change.

i totally support your intention, but not so much your specific idea.
consider the big picture. if you want gamers to reduce their carbon emissions, push your government for cleaner sources of electricity.
Just getting a few people to shut down their computers for a few hours is only slightly delaying the inevitable. what we need are real solutions, not stopgap measures.

I'm not that big a fan of Gore, but that's blatant misinformation. Al Gore pays for carbon credits covering every cent of his electric bill, so the overall environmental impact is zero.

the problem is not how much energy we use, its how we get that energy. we could all use 50x the current amount of electricity and everything would be fine if it all came from clean sources like solar and wind. al gore is setting a fine example by pushing for cleaner sources of energy.

Well i shut down my comp when i'm not on it and know i'm not on it for more then an hour or so. Also i never watch TV and have the computer running at the same time and i ride a bike to work and not a car. Oh and i pay environmental tax so... STFU u treehugging hippie, i'm doing enough as it is allready unless u want us all to live in a cave again. Resized tag... again... hope this pleases the tag ninjas from ccp... again :p

You silly little person.
It is a scam this global warming thing. Doesn't exist. All a ruse to get people to give free labor. You see, recycling does nothing to help the environment, just saves waste management companies staff salaries. All the recycling stuff does is earn energy credits that are sold to energy producing companies thus allowing them to pump more stuff into the atmosphere or dump something somewhere. Kyoto accord or whateve it is called is nothing more than an exchange system (like a stock exchange) to distribute wealth to lower end countries. Nothing more, nothing less. People (mostly corporations) get rich in the process. So easy to do when you have so much misinformation out in the public.
Ok, so pollution et al. Doesn't matter as we are insignificant in comparison to the planet's ecosystems. Plus we don't introduce anything into the ecosystems - we just take what already exists and move it around. No net new or net loss. Well very minor when we send up a satellite but beside the point. Mother nature runs its due course and all is well. Corporations know this and are capitalizing on the stupidity of the public. Welcome to capitalism where the goal is to scam the unknowing.
So the best thing you can do is tape a tree hugger to a tree so they can never leave said tree and thus will teach a tree hugger about committment.
