Can someone help me out, some of my corpmates are diehard missioners- and some are diehard miners, if we can mix the two together, its a win win-
is there a level 1,2,3 or 4 mission that has good amounts of good ore that can be mined after the missioners clear it out? this could help out alot and builds strong bonds between differing player types. teamwork...it works

Edited by: Bronson Hughes on 13/03/2007 15:36:10 I recently did Rogue Slave Trader 1 & 2. One of them (I think it was part 2) had an abundance of large Omber asteroids in the initial room. Have your mission runner clear out the NPC spawns in the morning (i.e. just after downtime), then your miners can clear it out at their leisure.
Omber is pretty rare in Caldari territory so when I got this mission, our miners were really happy because they were running low on Isogen.
EDIT: It was the level 4 variety of mission.

Rogue Slave traders (2 of 2) is good for mining indeed, as mentioned above. First room isn't that hard and can be cleard with a BC easily. Don't go through the gate though, as I've heard this causes the mission to not respawn after DT.
Enemies Abound (1 of 5) also has a TON of roids in it. However, this one doesn't respawn and it can be a real PITA to clear out.

"Downing the Slavers" is in fact the real name of the second part of the "The Rogue Slave Trader" mission ...
I've had that "sequence" of 2 missions 4 times this week, so I took the time to scan the roids in there (instead of just mining the Omber as fast as I can), and each time I've had the same roids :
6 x Veldspar (90000 units each)
10 x Scordite (25000 units each)
8 x Omber (50000 units each)
I love that mission, the 245600 Isogen from those 8 roids of Omber are a real boon in Caldari high sec space

Even on a smaller scale the lvl 1 storyline mission "A case of kidnapping" has about 12mill isk worth of omber in it. It's a nice way for new pilots to make some extra cash

Edited by: Loc Maythan on 16/03/2007 09:45:06 Edited by: Loc Maythan on 16/03/2007 09:44:31 The Rogue Slave Trader (part 2) - Downing The Slavers has 8 omber 'roids at level 3 and 9 omber 'roids at level 4. In both cases, the omber is in the first room, so you don't have to take on the second, harder room. Single covetor with strip miners and a nicely fitted iteron 5 can clear the omber in a bit over 3 hours. This omber can be worth around 30 million if you sell it right.
Human Cattle (part 5) - level 2 mission - has 1 large omber 'roid in the last room - and by last, I mean the room in which you get the 'objectives complete' message, not the one after that which takes you into a fleets of battleships. Main problem with this omber is that it is in deadspace, and you have to travel about 80km through gates to reach it. I personally don't think it is worth it.

Yes I can confirm if you complete the mission objective the mission will not respawn at DT. Just empty the first room and wait for your miners to complete before doing the 2nd room.
Oh and remember that you will get belt rat spawns so the miners should take some combat drones also for protection.

The list of roids I posted a bit higher was for the level 4 version of the "Downing the Slavers" mission, I've done it four times this week plus a few more before that, and I've never had 9 omber roids, always 8 ...
That mission is my main source of Isogen, I know it like the back of my hand ...

Better yet, those 8 omber roids in Downing the Slavers (CN lvl 3 Rogue Slave Traders 2) respawn to full 50k units after each DT. I kept mine open for a week and cleared it like 4 times. Nice reward that keeps on giving for keeping the objective incomplete for awhile...
Furthermore, Caldari Navy lvl 3 - Technological Secrets 3 (against some of the Republic Fleet) contains 1 omber roid of unknown size. Likewise, CN lvl 3 Massive Attack contains 2 omber roids in it that I have mined before. I can't recall the size, but it was worth it on a 1-time basis to mine before completing the objective. Makes a nice casual mining op...

I spent almost 4 hours mining the big omber roids in a level 3 slavers mission. Then, to my horror, I looked at the market and realised that the scordite was actually worth MORE than the omber: right now isogen prices are low enough (93isk), and pyerite are high enough (9+ isk) in the Domain, that mining the omber actually gets you 20% less for your effort.
It's still fun, and a great way to get the corp miners involoved, but it's actually not as profitable as it was 4-6 months ago

I have just been stockpiling as much Isogen as I can and holding onto it until the price goes back up. It will eventually.

Mission miners beware, some level 3/4 storyline rewards require 10k Omber for completion and most mission runner rarely capitalise fully on the missions since the main focus may be just LP for them so any correctly placed increments of your omber stash in such a storyline agents station will help you to regain your hold on profit within this ever decreasing margin. Do not accept the fact that your abundance of omber may crash the market, it will if you refine it and sell. Control the prices by making the required amounts available for the storyline station. A little intel and a tadge of hauling raw rock will soon see health injected into omber prices.

Personnaly, I mine that Omber because I need Isogen for my productions (ammo, modules, orders from my corpmates) ... I could say that I actually remove it from the economy

Agreed.
My corp pays each miner 50% value of the ore they sell to the corp. Our corp doesn't actually sell the ore, we use it for manufacturing.

I currently have an active 10 part lvl 3 storyline - Angel Strike.
The 3rd or 4th part has 10 Omber roids in the first room. Not sure how big they are or if they are worth mining as I don't normally mine much.

Level 3s: Slavers (2) - 8 omber roids (400K)- do not go into the second room and the will respawn after DT as previous posters said; Techno Secrets (1) - 1x 50K omber roid, not worth running for a week but a nice bonus to the mission anyway; Massive Attck - 2 omber roids in room 4 ~ 75K in total.
Level 4s: Slavers (2) - same as level 3, the bounties (~1.5mil) cover your time completion bonus + loot and salvage. And of course the omber and scord. Enemies abound (1) - massive belt with kernite and omber - I've yet to find a way to move the rats away from them to mine it without completing the mission but as a one off it's a huge source of ore - I struggled to clear it before DT with 2 Hulks and mining skills maxed out (one also need to sleep, unfortunately . It's a really good mining gig for a corp. Enemies abound (4) - 2 omber roids in the first room (90K each) easy access and very profitable mission with bounties, loot and salvage - ran it for a week with no probs. The downside - you take a massive hit with Gallente standings.
AE and GE also have omber roids but they are tiny - 1K each, not worth the hussle.
Scord may be worth more at the moment but this is your mission, your private mining belt - no ore theft, big roids - less hussle to mine...

No, you don't remove it from the economy... The fact that you don't need to buy it doesn't remove it from the economy. It highlights the fact that all of our actions are part of the economy. The fact that people can mine this omber, and therefore don't have to buy Isogen on the market, has a serious impact on the market price of Isogen.

That must be a new thing then. I completed the whole mission and then went back for my Covetor to rid the belt of those pesky Omber roids before telling my Agent it was over. I left my alt hauler in among the remaining Veldspar roids just to see what would happen. When I told the Agent it was done, the roids just vanished. There were no new rat spawns while I was there at all so I mined in peace.

Gone Berserk L3 and the L3 with the repair station are also excellent ones to mine.
Gone Berserk has a pile of pyro / plagio that add a nice mix to the mins. Add to that the fact I run this in amarr space where mex sells nicely
