First off let me say I like the patch so this is not a whinge.....
Ive lost 2 fully kitted thoraxes (cant afford BS) to this mission in 2 days....
I come out of warp 50km from the 3 rats, but no matter what i do, the ship slows to a stop and will not let me warp away or engage the MWD
Loads of cap left so not that, and no sign of any webbing activity.
Ive stuck up for the patch until now, but Im now about 16m ISK down the tubes coz of this
Any suggestions? Ive filed a petition...

I sometimes get this at random times, not just during missions.
What happens is when I warp to somewhere my ship doesn't move, if the autopilot is on then it just keeps popping up with the message saying the autopilot has activated but my ship doesn't move.
To get the ship to move I have to keep clicking the left mouse button in a direction until the ship starts moving again.

Deploy your drones and watch the big rats pay WAY too much attension to them - kill them then and there - btw save the thief for last.

I seriously doubt this is a "mission" bug. I'll have someone look into it.

The problem Drutort describes, where you have to manually double-click a point in space to get your ship moving again, is well known, Zrakor: it happens mostly at stargates, for obvious reasons.
If that explains Codaarix's problem, then you can rest easy, this is indeed not an agent-related problem. If Codaarix comes back and says "yeah, I tried that, but it didn't help" .. then, you will have to investigate.

LOL!
Well Im faced with a problem next time that mission comes up of whether I can afford to accept it.....
I wasnt a case of being unprepared - after all the thiefs escorts fire missiles and as I warped to 50km I had time to take evasive action if need be - just couldnt!

Edited by: Sgt Staaf on 20/12/2003 12:00:06 I had the same problem during the killmissions. Couldent do anything, my modules didn`t activate for a minute and when they did i couldent deactivate them. My shields was at 100% one minute and 50% the next and 30-60sec later they where back at 100% again.
My Torps hit the npc`s but they got no damage until 2-3minutes later and by then my ship finaly warped and i ended up at the planet imidiatly when the warpingsign showed up. (i pressed the warpbutton over a minute before the message showed up)
Edit: I had no problems killing rats in the fields, the problems was only there during the 2 Thief missions i did.

Codaarix, I've managed to do this mission twice now in a Celestis. Took a fair bit of damage but survived.
The trick for me was to use both missiles and med drones (yes, I know they don't mix). First time I was getting my arse handed to me and I tried to warp out - like you, it wouldn't let me. Luckily I had my drones out and kept firing a combination of heavy missiles and light FOF (Celestis has 2 launcher points). Due to my cap being worn out, I couldn't use my hybs at all, but eventually I killed the 3 rats (though I had 16% armour and 49% structure left...)
Second time I was a little better prepared and only lost around half my armour (heheh).
I'm thinking I might replace my MWD with a cap booster, as the one I had fitted alongside my MWD gave me enough cap to sustain shields longer and use one of my rails. Also had a 650mm proj cannon on there, though it was still my missile and drones doing most of the work.

erm what's the prob? The npc's are a cake walk... I used a very badly equiped stabber (med shield booster, 2x 720 scouts, fourier, counterbalanced, ab, od) and they had trouble getting my shields down (note though just dont get into their webbing range thats just, erm, dumb). -------- -The only real drug problem is scoring real good drugs

i thought it was lag or something but it wasnt
I've noticed that this is a jumpgate bug, i've submitted a bug report and sent and recieved a message from a GM confirming they recieved it.
It happens in one place i know (Probably others, but i've not gone searching) The New Caldari gate in the Malkalen system is bugged where your approach and autopilot will not work on it. You can manually direct your ship towards it and jump yourself which works fine.
Zrakor, just a place to start looking. Hope it helps.
As to another thing you might be talking about, i've had long periods of time where it seems the game has frozen. Usually happens while in warp, but has happened during gate approach. During that time you can't do anything, ie manually direct ship, type in channels, open windows etc. I've not been able to duplicate this with regularity or test events which might cause it.
Those are the two closest that I believe people might be talking about. If you have more info or experiences with them, post in here clarifications please. Thanks. ------------------- Basic truths? Idiots make us rich. - Some people are only alive because it is illegal to kill them. |

Edited by: Zrakor on 21/12/2003 00:12:44 I don't see how this could be an agent bug, as none of the agent code affects the ship of the player. Possibly a new problem with spawning pirates, but there's nothing I can do about that except forward it to someone else.
I am looking into it though, although this hasn't happened to me yet. Are you sure this doesn't also happen in normal pirate encounters, outside of a mission?

Zrakor's right, it's not a bug caused by Agent missions. Something like this has happened to me while using the autopilot. Autopilot reports that it is trying to approach the gate but nothing happens. Manually approaching the gate via right click doesn't work either, but clicking the stellar background works...
Codaarix: Are you able to move at all? eg: double-click the background etc. Do you get any messages stating that you've been warp jammed or anything?
This one will probably be hard to track down without somebody getting a log of it. Only problem is out of the several hundred jumps I've done since Castor, this bug has only happened once... __________________________________________________________________________ May I recommend a Cybernetic Subprocessor?.. Edited by: Dr Peace on 21/12/2003 08:07:28 This happens outside missions.
On a normal commute, my bs stopped at a JIP with the prompt repeatedly coming up 'autopilot warping to...' but my ship was just STOPPED.
Had to turn off the autopilot, point and click somewhere whereby it started to move again and reenable autopilot. Weird bug.

Happened to me too, but only started yesterday.
A bit of fusious clicking in the direction of the stargate seems to disable the AutoPilot and get the ship moving again.
Next time i'll keep a check of the system and gates. Maybe it's related to specific areas ----------------------------------------------- IÆm not schizophrenic... ThatÆs my alt

Had heard about double clicking after i lost the first thorax, so tried that when i did the mission 2nd time
Might there be a problem if your ship actually stops? I seem to remember i let the ship come to a halt whilst i was lasering and railgunning. It was after that I couldnt move
....and no - no signs of any webbing activity from the rats

Well we need to keep in mind it may be a different bug. I too came to a complete stop but was able to start moving again.
Obviously you didn't have the AP going when the bug occured, which is the most prominent difference.
If you were to run the client log while this happened and submit a bug report, that would probably help the devs... __________________________________________________________________________ May I recommend a Cybernetic Subprocessor?.. That's an intelligence implant, sweetheart.

Yes, been there seen it. Not loosing any ship, but failed the mission, all 3 guys need to be killed for completion.
But as for the issue at hand. Ship do grind to a halt, juping in at max distance is HIGHLY recommended. And btw, Kap Onwarel - lauch what drones?!? Im in a blackbird!
I have however managed to get moving, warping to planets and gates does not help but starting to go on manual actually do work. So hoping that hint helps a few hapless guys here with surviving. Winning? Just forget it!

I had something like this happeningg to me to before patch also. Was mining in Pator when a well known PC (belt killer) warped in. But as I always do align my ship to a base and also have the mousepointer ready on 'dock' I thought I was safe but nothing at all happend when clicked, so he managed to lock on me and send a bunch of missiles/topedos at me..while I desparatly tried to warp away but lost more than half of my hull when he suddenly warped away, then it took like 15 more seconds before the warp message finaly came up
( Found out he was out of ammo, so some luck anyway :) )

The problem is, even the double-clicking work around is not guaranteed to undo the effects of this bug first time around; sometimes I've had to sit there for half a minute clicking away before my ship finally gets the message.
So, it's possible that you had exactly this bug, which is known about, but you were unlucky enough not to be able to get out from under it; it's also possible that you found another, more obscure bug, which is to do with agents specifically. This is what's worrying Zrakor, since the latter should be impossible.

Also I notice and faild mission because a spawned conteiner with data sheet in it, has less HP that normal and can be destroyed with one hit. Please fix it.
