Yeah just think... the new null warfare in eve is going to be 1000 man t1 gangs all with 5 mil SP. 600 caracals, 150 merlins, 150 Osprey, 90 griffens, then the omega pilots, 8 boosters, 1 FC, 1 Backup FC. Each will be watchlisted pre locked with 5 RR on them at all times at least regardless of if they are getting shot or not. Oh yeah and full time 10% TIDI just for fun.

If they can make it, so you can't multibox using Alpha's this isn't too bad.
Otherwise, this is abusable as ****. Eve is dead? |

My 2 ISK: this will be good for people in poorer countries who can't regularly afford subscription fees, since they can farm missions and rats and such and plex their accounts.
You'd be a fool to think this isn't going to make the market price of plex skyrocket, though.
Freemium is not going to kill EVE, you idiots, so STFU and stop screeching like monkeys. All that's needed is to iron out the bugs and monitor for abuse.

I almost can't believe I'm saying it, but yes, EVE is dead. It was gonna happen eventually, and it had a good run, but this is all she wrote, folks.
The good news is, when this is actually implemented, I'll still be able to log in to biomass all my toons without having to pay a month's sub for it.

Sigh. Free to play is the death knell for games. Basically means the Dev's have given up. They forgot what drove eve in the first place, chased after the casuals by making eve a softer friendlier place who they couldn't enthrall in any event, and now they have doubled down on that quest by going all free to play. They are certainly going to get a short term boost which they will crow about, but like what usually happens in these situations, those causal players are not going to pay and this is going to rebound for the worst.
I guess I should look to see how i turn off my subscriptions. 6 years or so. It couldnt last forever, but it is still sad to be here at the end. |

Don't make assumptions about me, please. That would be silly. I actually spent almost a year homeless, thank you very much, so I know exactly what it's like to struggle, and if you're struggling, gaming ain't exactly at the top of your list of priorities. And if it is, then your list of priorities is **** and you need to reconsider what you're doing with your life.
Freemium won't kill EVE, no. That's because it's already dead, which is why it's going free. If it wasn't for some of the **** decisions that have been made the past couple of years that have seen so many people leave, there wouldn't be a need to attract new players with this last-ditch effort to keep the lights on.
The problem has never been that the game wasn't attracting new players. The problem has been retention.

I don't mean to come across like an *******, so I apologize if I do.
This is a video game, it's a luxury, not a necessity. If you can't afford $12/mo for a luxury you need to spend less time playing video games and more time working on getting a better job. |

Thoughts?
looking at it
it looks like a more limited trial, but without the time limit
they can't train battlecruiser like they could in the trial. but are limited to frigates, destroyers, and cruisers
what i'm concerned about is tech 1 or tech 2. if they limited to tech 1, fair enough.
if they allowed tech 2......oh god the stealth bomber spam plz no nononononoononono.
overall its more appealing to myself personally (if i was just joining the game now) because no time limit so i can hop on whenever in a venture or rifter. or kestrel
and no time limit means they have all the time they need to earn enough isk to buy plex.
but considering i'm in love with stealth bombers, confessors, Hurricanes, and rokhs. i'm going to continue to subscribe. cause i can't play without my hurricane |
