Just for fun lets throw this idea around.  Wouldn't it be fun for CCP to open a new server (shard) that was all new and an alternate universe for EVE. In this universe a pod kill results in a REAL death! Clone technology does not exist. Or maybe it is less reliable. Eiter way when you are podded you die and have to restart with a new character.
Getting to a BS is an incredible achievement! Suicide ganking is impossible because only one character is allowed per account. And to prevent people from paying for another account to suicide gank make it so that if you die you have to wait 24 hours to make a new character.
Would 0.0 be absolutly barren? And Low sec?
Maybe to help low sec make the gate guns and station guns REALLY uber so its like a Dread firing on a BS and smaller guns to track intys. So at least the gaets are a safe spot in low sec.
Throw out ideas! I know this would never happen but is fun to think of how the game would be like this yeah?

That would be very cool, yeah. No bloated wallets or economic stagnation that eve currently faces.
But nobody'd play it. People are too attached to their play money.

I like it. Start with a weekend special, and if it is popular, a more persistant server. I'd guess you would have to wipe the server every few months to stop a small group achieving total domination.

this would suck for 1 major reason. Who would build anything? They die they lose everything they made. That and the carebears would never play only hardcore warriors. And few people would make it to mining barges since they'd all die moving thier stuff if they did anything in 0.0. Industry would be impossible, no industry = no EVE. Plain and simple. Though i like the idea, it just wouldn't work.

This is not WoW or any other game with servers where you choose the conditions of your play.
This is EvE, the one world, the one cluster! And only one can exist.

Well you can have everything built by npcs. The server will just be purely PvP. No carebearing going on there. Sounds like a great idea, but would they do it?

That could (keyword COULD) be awesome, such a new playstyle would devlop. I'd love to see it on a trial basis BUT.....come on, I mean as it is dont the Devs have a massive work load tryin to keep TQ up?
I dont know is it even feasible? or would it be basically like the test server where you make a new char with MUCH increased learning time, as it'd be unfair and ridiculous to expect people to spend months learning skills again on a new server, rather make it a getaway from TQ and you just have fun for a weekend or whatever before gettin popped :D

Well with every sub you have on the main server you get one character slot on the PD server. So then you could play on PD for fun and see how far you could get and play on the main shard and keep your earned assets.
Yes, the people with multiple accounts could still suicide gank, but I think it would be rare with a 24 hour reset penalty. Or at least more difficult.

if they do it almost 90% of players won't play on it ... reason ? permadeath = lost everything = less fun mate... what if u skill / take ship /item for 1 year???then die... = u have to restart everything... i don't think is good solution .. why is not fun here in 0.0 - pvp in corp/ally??? u lost ship here .. u lost implant if u have it on....

I would imagine a lot would stay in empire until they can fly at least a cruiser. Then there would be some who explore low sec in uncatchable nano fitted intys, doing whatever. Then once it progressed enough, some corps would form a large gang and move into 0.0 and get the big iskies, and most wouldn't travel alone.
But then some would get careless and make mistakes, die, and have to start again.

Hmmm... no one would ever fly Tech2 or a capital ship, and people can put up POS's the day they make characters. You can also have industrial alts who just build things.
Would have to be a completely different game, I'm afraid. POS's would be invincible, and alts would destroy it in a worse way than they do in the current Eve, but I would enjoy playing it.

Or make it so your skills train 10x faster, but you permanently activate "When you're podded, your char permanently is removed from the server"-mode.

The reason I mentioned test server is, everyone has characters mirrored there. You would be using the same one as your tranq. Everything costs 100 isk there as well. You can't get podded if you dont undock, so you'd still have carebear producers wacking out what the NPCs dont sell. Everyone wouldn't spawn in the same station, so there wouldn't be server up ganks in that respect. Test gets reset frequently enough that I think it'd make a great weekend event. I think we should schedule it the next time we need a stress test.

Yeah that would be a great weekend event on the test server!
I used to play on a PVE MUD way back in the day, and every year on Halloween the whole server would get backed up and then set to PVP. Was awesome.

Would be a good idea but one problem I find is i cant get on the test server most of the time as my account on it is pretty much allways disabled for some reason !
