Once upon a time... there was a nice cool system... a chockepoint in the middle of some cool traderoutes. Some BAD pirates decided they will go there and camp... killing people. For the benefit of all the whiners on boards CCP did a bit of roleplaying... saying that concord... troubled by the pirates actions have sent out a special strike team to clean them out. So some dev's gm's and such got theyr asses in some nice ships went there and cleared out the camp.
This was happening about 3 years ago... and i hope they have learned something from it... since i wanted to quit eve bcouse of that ****. -------------------------------------

I think a more interesting question would be exactly how many minutes would it last before the first blue hauler went splat?

The entire point of Eve is conflict. While you may have short-term alliances and NAPs between certain parties in order to focus elsewhere, the idea of a single alliance controlling all of 0.0, or all 0.0 alliances NAPing each other, is ridiculous and would never ever happen. People play this game to shoot each other, not play Ultra Space Miner 3000, and eliminating war is rather counterproductive to that.
It's a silly question to begin with, posting a thread about it so a dev can settle an argument between you and your friend (what are you, 12?) is even sillier.

And taking the time to flame someone for it goes even farther then that.
And if want to be petty, I damn well will be.

Yeah those were some entertaining days on the forums. GM's attacked m0o and ended up getting beaten by them, so they moved m0o members to random 0.0 systems to break them up.
Hmm, huh? I seem to recall m0o running away from the GM/Dev-piloted CONCORD battleships, except for one member who got his ass whipped pretty hard. Did they do this twice?
I do remember the random move-thing, though.
It happened more than once iirc. They did run away one time because the GM's were using /heal on their ships. Dunno, memory gets foggy after 3 years ;)
This is the lamest thing i've ever heard of. Like, omg lame. lol

The player guide also says: "Battlecruisers are ships with the firepower of a battleship, but must rely on speed for defense."

Even if they would, it would be a matter of days rather than weeks before inner war would start, so it doesn't matter at all. They want to pew pew.

hey papa because this is the lamest thing i've ever heard of in any game, do you know of an archive that would have the details on this event? i'm sure ccp damage control has tried to erase it from memory so it wont be in forum archives.

The blockade lasted several weeks, and after a hundred forum posts about people quitting becuase of it the GM's intervened by using GM controlled BS. The Reverend stayed behind and was destroyed. After the GM's left m0o carried on the blockades until the GM's moved them clear across the universe - unfortunatly for the GM's they placed m0o right in the middle of a corporations mining op and more havoc insued. Soon after Concord and sentry guns were boosted in empire.

Ok, BoB is an extremely complex, organized and skilled organization, most of you know this. However most of you don't realize that in order to control the dozens of 0.0 regions throughout the EVE universe would require nothing less than complete annihilation of the rest of the 0.0 inhabitants. Simply impossible for one organiztion, even Band of Brothers, to achieve such a task. Now, if this were to happen 'Hypothetically', I don't think CCP would do anything about it.
Now that that's over. DEATH TO TEH BOBS!

Yep, because the well-being of the playerbase, and all intended game mechanics, must take a backseat to metagaming leet kiddies and their insatiable need to drive everyone else out of EVE.

New player, first post, but I'd like to mention a few things.
A corp's ultimate goal, to me, is to own as much space as they can. I can see how it may be possible, after a very long time, that a single corp gets enough momentum to if not own all of 0.0 space, but a very large portion of it.
If this were to happen, it would indeed cause complications, as it seems that the game focuses heavily on end game PvP. So, if there was no conflict, where would be the fun?
I've actually thought of this from a developer's point of view, and actually thought of a large scale space sim and what I would do with it myself.
What I would do, is introduce a foreign NPC threat. Maybe an invasion from real aliens. Or,even, the ancestors the denizens of EVE (after all, it's been how many thousands of years since EVE has been closed off from Sol? Imagine how advanced they'd be.)
Having a large foreign threat to deal with would pave the way for more PvP conflict later on. Whoever is currently controlling the majority of the space would take heavy losses, and may not be able to defend their territories, allowing other corporations to retake 0.0 space.
While it wouldn't be as exciting as PvP, having a PvE threat of this nature would still be very fun, and it would give the developers an excuse to influence their universe, without being unfair about it, which it sounds like they had to do against the mOo blockade. It would also allow the 0.0 areas to rebuild.
Heck, maybe even allow some Corp's to gain good standings with he PvE alien factions just to push against the current standing empire.
That being said, most Corps set on owning space will always want to expand. I highly doubt a CEO will just say one day "You know what, let's stop here. I'm satisfied." if they had the resources to keep pushing.

Yeah those were some entertaining days on the forums. GM's attacked m0o and ended up getting beaten by them, so they moved m0o members to random 0.0 systems to break them up. m0o was camping newb systems at that time, blowing up every ship they saw and holding off both CONCORD and the sentry guns. A short while later sentries and CONCORD were both boosted because of it. This was back when a certain gyrostabilizer would drop from certain rats that gave 40% bonus to ROF and damage without a stacking penalty, m0o had their low slots full of these.
Well for my memory as i was there it was Zombie.inc who did attack Yulai that did lead to the sentry boost and allso the change of sentrys svitchin targets, and yes Gm's did turn up and get involved in action and yes they did brake up the camp, there is a nice video of the camp on eve forums somewhere, let me see if i find #url ............http://myeve.eve-online.com/download/videos/Default.asp?a=download&vid=82 Enjoy.

Not really, dug up Hellmars blog on it from the Dev Blog Archive http://myeve.eve-online.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=15. I tihnk the objection was not to them gate camping and killing everything but to them doing it in hisec with tanks that Concord could not break and continuing to do it after the GM's requested that they stop.
That said it was before my time so I only have rumours and hearsay to form my opinions by.

*puts on the tinfoil*
ccp also killed curse alliance when they were rulers of the universe and the one and only ebil empire!!!
Offcourse we all know BoB = Devs so not sure if they are masochistic enough to kill themselves.
OMG!!! thats it, thats why all devs are in BoB, they planned to kill it from the inside when the time came and we all ruined it for them by exposing them!!
Ok, time to get my paranioa medicine again. Resized tag... again... hope this pleases the tag ninjas from ccp... again :p

If they'd succeed they'd just play an evil trick:
somehow trick mmultiple billions into the pocket of some of their enemies for them to feel strong enough to start an anti-bob-bandwagon and therefore fight all over eve at once...
ohh wait!?!

Originally by: Ryoken McKeon ...take over the entire 0.0, would CCP interfere and break BoB up or take action to force them out of that position?
(I already know the answer is no, they would never interfere, that would ruin the game if players were being messed with in that way, this is to prove a point to a corp mate. Just want an answer to shut him up.)
You obviously dont know the answer as anyone and everyone knows that CCP plays as members of BoB.. why would they stop their own alliance from taking over
