The yanks have never been good at spelling. America is like the big brother who always had a big problem with the word "colour" :P

Fixed for accuracy
and I always make a point of correcting people who try to use american terminolgy in EvE, there are no dollars, BB is a blackbird, DD is a doomsday, FF is when you miss the S off, and as for the letter "u" Grr will they ever learn?

Your country, assuming it has a navy and is a member of NATO, uses a similar classification system. (or it may use exactly the same one, if you're in Canada or Australia or several other countries) --- Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail. - Emerson |

I would have guessed it was BB due to Battleship lacking a second letter for the designation, to keep it consistent, much like the first episode in the first season of something is S01E01, not S1E1.
However in Eve, it is BS, as a BB is a Blackbird.
We really needn't worry about any other supposed meaning of 'BS', as anyone who cannot bring themselves to say bull****, but will say BS, are so goddamn lame that no-one cares what they say, and they are mistaken if they think it carries the same weight anyway. -

Nope, its just the US Navy, unless I'm much mistaken. US Navy use the "Hull Classification Symbol" system (BB, DD, and all that jazz) while Britain, Commonwealth (and ex-Commonwealth) and most of the European Nato members use the "Pennant Number" system. Wikipedia will explain the differences.
But no, the vast majority of the world does not use the US Navy system. More importantly, nor does EVE. SO STOP SAYING IT YOU IRRITATING GITS!

The penant system is fairly similar. Australia and a few other countries do use the US system. Every other SCIFI game I've played has used variants of the system, but thats probably because all their devs played SFB and/or watch star trek. --- Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail. - Emerson |

It's far far more annoying, and it's because they are stupid (and probably ugly too) and that's 'nuff said. -
