I've just decommissioned my citadel to move it but now my book mark doesn't work and I can't warp to collect it.
I fear it has now been collected by someone else because I haven't been to it since it was decommissioned but I can't get there to check.
Any ideas? |

Probably not, but you never know. Are you getting any error messages when trying to warp to your bookmark?

No.
If I click "Approach location" the ship won't move and ditto if I click "Dock".
There is no "Warp To" options. |

Wait, what. Did you save the bookmark from the blue anom-like icon in space that the citadel has while anchored?

So what you're saying is that you're within 150km of the bookmark. I feel like there's a piece of information missing here. Just in case, warp to a gate, alt+e, open your locations tab, right click the bookmark, click warp to 0.
Edit: also check your overview settings, and check for it on dscan.

It makes no difference if I've warped out of system or whatever. When I right click to warp to I DO NOT have this option.
I ONLY have "Approach Location" and "Dock" no matter where in space I am. NEITHER of these options do anything.
There is no missing information I'm telling it as I see it. It worked on Monday when the citadel was operational but I tried it last night after it had been decommissioned and today and the same thing. I literally have no way back to the citadel and I think as a result someone's collected it. |

First of all, decomissioning it takes a week. It's still being pulled down right now. That is, if you started on Monday. Bring a ship with combat probes and scan it down.

Petition CCP. Bookmarks should still exist and work even if the item that was bookmarked is gone. Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to warp to a MTU location after the guy had already scooped it.
I suspect this will have something to do with the way citadels have been implemented as they are still pretty buggy. You should be able to get your citadel back |

Bookmarks still work if you bookmarked say a can, or an asteroid, even after they are gone. Why would that be different for a Citadel?

Relog, Jump out then jump back into the system, attempt to warp to bookmark. If the issue is still there, before entering anymore commands, file a bug report THEN a Support ticket. The bug report will let the Bug hunters know there is a problem and they can shift code, the support ticket will let the GM's figure out if there's something they can do about the citadel

That is true and I suspect that's why I can't scan it down but it came as a result of not being able to warp to the location in my BM.
What is it about Citadels that makes Bfs different to EVERYTHING else in the game?
Like others have stated you can warp to the location of a no longer existent MTU or ice belt or asteroid or warp gate etc so why are citadels different? They shouldn't be different. |

Sounds like when BM'ing the citadel itself it may save the location of the citadel (so if it gets moved your bm will warp you to the new place) and in this case since it's now gone, there's no coordinates to warp to.

See what result the petition brings, because there is stuff here making no sense. You say your only options are Quote: "Approach Location" and "Dock" no matter where in space I am but you don't get the option to "Dock" at a bookmark.

New code. Likely a bug.
EVE was very successful in teaching me paranoia.
After I lost my first stuff in space due to missing bookmarks (drones if I remember well), I started to bookmark space additionally to item bookmarks. Whenever I'm done somewhere i.e missions turned in, done for the day, I clean the bookmarks up. It's pretty fast and has saved me from disaster a couple of times already.

It is a bug, and if I read the patch notes for the Sep 13 update correctly, it will be patched then.

i noticed this bug on the test server months ago, I would bookmark freeport citadels (since there were no "Structures" folder when I right-click in space at that time) and later they were either destroyed or unanchored after which I could no longer warp to them. Had this been implemented properly, I should still be able to warp to the location where they used to be.
Workarounds are not bugfixes.

If it makes you feel any better there are people who watch for decomissioning citadels and it was probably stolen within minutes of unanchoring - so you probably couldn't have retrieved it anyway.
With the public status of citadels and the extremely long unanchoring timer - you should probably consider any Citadels you place permanent (at least in high-sec) - because if you try to unanchor it there is a very high probability it will be stolen.
Just FYI for your next one.

That doesn't seem like a good game plan.
I wonder if they could put a hours long timer after the decommissioning period at which only the owner could scoop it up. For example 12 hours, after which it's fodder for anyone. |

I can safely say that the 13 September update did NOT fix the bookmark issue.
Same deal.
Lesson learned. Don't use game mechanics the way they should be used. ;-) |
