The Conditioner	Posted - 2007.03.17 17:49:00 - [1] last nite my mackinaw was blown up by a pirate in placid. I dont minf getting ships blown up if its fair fights but this wasnt. I was mining in the belt and a pirate called destiny something warped in and was abut 14km away from me i tried to warp to the station and i had 2 warp core stabs fitted but i never made it out in the time it took me to go to warp he blew me up in less than 10 seconds. i think these ship is far too powerful, it was a xealot if it can blow up a ship in the time it takes to warp as stabs are meant to protect miners!!!!! i asked him why in local and he refused my chats all he said was he couldn't beliee his luck to exhumers in 1 night Im not a complete n00b but i know I shud have been aligned and been watching local but i dnt expect a ship to be able to blow me up in the time to go to warp, wahst the point in putting stabs on to protect your barge if it doesnt matter. yes this is an alt becasaue you guys will flame me anyway

What was he in exactly? edit: saw zealot, it's not very powerful you just have low hitpoints or are slow to warp zealot doesn't deal that much damage. Shield extenders could have given you more time to warp off

And the WCS isn't suppose to protect you as in make you immune to combat, its suppose to give you a better chance, thats it. An mabey someone guarding you would've helped you out, instead of being a lone miner. I know that im jumping for joy whenever I find one. By the way your ship lose is nothing compared to what you have been doing to those defenseless roids. I mean you've been popping them as a miner without fear to long, your the true pirate We are just trying to even the playing fields help those poor roids live another day.

Your retriever or whatever on has like 1k hp total anyways so it would take any ship cruiser or bigger like 10 seconds to kill you. You can mine Veld in Empire and make more usually, becasue you dont have to worrry about warping out every 10 minutes, and sitting at some safespot or in station. Couple this with the fact that mining ships are paper thin, slow as hell and and maneuver like a paraplegic elephant, I have no idea why anyone would even bother with LowSec.

It's true that lowsec mining is pretty much not worth it considering current prices, but to switch all the way down to veld is a little extreme don't you think? Kernite and Scord are the way to go, Omber is nice too, plag or pyro if you're bored and just want to watch tv in the meantime.

Remember, your not paranoid, they are coming to get you Stay aligned for warp, watch local and if you know how use yer scanner. If yer in a belt most times itll be 1 or 2 guys after you so 1 WCS should be enough.

Mining barges are supposed to be paper thin and in my opinion a t2 cruise which fitted costs a fair bit and is designed primarily as a dmg dealer should be able to pop a barge before it warps and i think a lot of ppl here agree. so it seems it's a difference of opinion about how this should work DE
