TBH you're right, we don't care a hoot about your loss. As for your issue with a zealot being able to destroy you before you can align, I see no reason that it's unfair. There are weak ships, and strong ships, and if a strong ship attacks a weak ship, it will win. And if the weak ship isn't set up for defense, and the strong ship is set up to deal massive damage, then by all means you might as well have been instapopped which would have been fine with me.
Stop complaining that things are "unfair" and do something to defend yourself.

alot of ppl i feel have missed this.
What would have happened if the Zealot had 3pts? Would you be here crying because your ship should have more low slots?
there is no win button. Your crying because the Zealot does too much damage, but too much damage for what? too much that your stabbed mining barge cant get away. Does that mean al ships must be nerfed to do less dmg than a stabbed mackinaw can soak up before getting to warp?
thats the beauty of eve, you can fit a setup which would sooooo totally own something else, but could still die to something else, theres no uber method to 100% protect yourself, and i love it

I would have liked to ransom you, but i'd caught an exhumer earlier on that evening and assumed stabbing them up was normal practice so it had to be F1F2F3F4F5
The Zealot is not overpowered if anything maybe a little overpriced Don't mine alone, even though Sanguine is gone there are plenty of other nasties about

I was trying to suicide a Retriever in a Tristan the other day, and only got the guy to half armor before I got popped. Granted, I don't have good missile skills, so my rockets wheren't really doing max damage, but still...
I think this is clear cut evidence that Retrievers need nerfing, or possibly that Tristans need boosting.

Yes, very much so. You're in a mining ship, and he's in an expensive heavy-hitting tech 2 ship. 10 seconds is quite reasonable.

Unfounded whine thread number 8 million.
There are ships that could gank your barge far faster than a zealot. Therefore this thread is redundant.

Ok so what about your fitting? Your in low sec surely you had some sort of defensive fit on? Stabs are the start of your defensive setup and not all of it.

This reminds me, I once killed a Thrasher while flying a Thorax without a warp disruptor on it. Just warped in to the belt, started locking, set to orbit at close range, released drones and sent them to engage, and turned on blasters. He blew up before warping. And that was just from a tech 1 cruiser.

It's you're so wrong btw....if you going to have a hysterical laughing fit, then laugh at yourself please.
Why on earth do people post these kind of stupid threads. Maybe if a HAC killed you in less that 10secs, the problem was with your ship, and not theirs
Edit: notice the correct use of "your"...meh I know, but it's misused all the time, it makes me cry

10 seconds is a bit overpowered - a barge lige that should last at elast 11...
Perhaps barges should be buffed a bit - pretty expensive ships if a T1 cruiser can nail it that fast... Still was there even a tank on the barge? - I'm a nice guy!! and OMG I love Team Tuxford for the speedbalancing... |

Edited by: Maalan on 20/03/2007 12:04:50 My plans on low sec mining is to use a nano frig to bookmark a warp in point. Then to mine my barge will warp to that point and run up to full speed pointing at the local station mining while I go. If a ship pops up closer than the next belt on the scanner I'll be warping out before they can even arrive. Anything less and I expect to get popped by anything larger than a shuttle.

It's not really profitable to mine under those conditions. You're better off mining Omber in a high-sec system. Or better yet, join an 0.0 corp and mine far better minerals than in low-sec with little risk.

Its not the ship, but the kit that does the killing, and there bigger the ship the longer it takes to warp and align.
Also the larger your ship the easier it is to target, especially if its not moving.
And HAC are designed to pack a punch and kick some ass. I'd assume a rack of T2 weapons, Damage modifiers, and a full rack of damage skills of any HAC pilot. Its not a ship to fly without some very naughty violence skills.
Incidently HACs are very expensive ships (avg 150-200m isk), and designed specifically to be 'battlefield badass' that can take punishment and dish it out....
If you don't have resists or tanks, then you're going to end up being very spanked by any combat ship that jumps you....
Still you were insured right? Lesson learned, warp stabs are only useful to prevent being scrambled, and are no protection against violence.... next time you might want to consider some shield protection so as to give those stabs time to get you out of dodge....

Originally by: The Conditioner last nite my mackinaw was blown up by a pirate in placid. I dont minf getting ships blown up if its fair fights but this wasnt. I was mining in the belt and a pirate called destiny something warped in and was abut 14km away from me i tried to warp to the station and i had 2 warp core stabs fitted but i never made it out in the time it took me to go to warp he blew me up in less than 10 seconds. i think these ship is far too powerful, it was a xealot if it can blow up a ship in the time it takes to warp as stabs are meant to protect miners!!!!! i asked him why in local and he refused my chats all he said was he couldn't beliee his luck to exhumers in 1 night
I'll try to be constructive here.
What was in your medium slots? Even with 2 WCS you could have fit 3 small shield extenders that may have bought you the time you needed to warp out.
And btw if you don't tank your ship expect to lose it even in highsec, you only need 5 million budget, a buddy and disregard for the law to kill an untanked Mackinaw in highsec before CONCORD comes to the rescue. So if even only one Ice Harvester II survive it's worth it from a financial point of view. Tank your ships or don't cry if you don't and lose it.
Oh and the best thing is not to get shot at all. Set your scanner to like 10 million km and as soon as something get in scan range initiate warp, the constant scanning will keep you alert and busy in what is a quite dull activity.

Edited by: Lab Technician071548 on 20/03/2007 17:36:20 Speaking as a fellow industrialsit, let me make a contemporary analogy to help you understand the situation.
You were in a tractor getting ready to start digging up some juicy ore-ladden dirt. While you were getting set up to do this, a Humvee with a .30 cal automatic machine gun and grenade launcher showed up. You lifted the bucket, slapped it in reverse and started rolling. Before you could get away, The Humvee shot you all to hell and back.
This should not be surprising to you.

Except in this case it was more like the equivalent of a M2 Bradley IFV, if not an M1A1 Abrams tank even.
